I ordered a Galaxy S7 and LG G6 for some testings (mainly the camera).
The camera of the S7 is so much better than the G6, especially in lower light and when recording videos. Videos on the G6 look like what you would expect from some 150€ phone.
Besides the camera everything else is better on the LG though, like the smartphone visuals itself and the battery life.
Sooo, i'm not sure if i should upgrade my Galaxy Note 4 yet, or just wait till beginning of next year and get the V30?

What variant do you have? My Exynos N910C holds up right there with flagships concerning video and camera capturing. If you're unsure, and you still need some extra time to think about getting a new phone with powerhouse camera abilities you should try S8+ or Note8 imho. If it's too much germoney, as you suggested wait for the LG getting dirt cheap (this brand doesn't hold "value" over time sadly)
@jackbomb
I have the N910F (Snapdragon 805). Purely from the processing power its still more than enough for my needs (not playing anything on my device).
I would even prefer something like a SD 625, because the battery performance will be even better with it.
Regarding the V30: It's supposed to get released in Germany end of October. I won't buy it at full price anyways. As 500€+ for a smartphone is just way too much.
From the reviews i got, the battery life on the V30 is awesome: 7-8h on screen time are easily achieveable with a black theme.
But the camera doesn't seem to perform much better than the G6. Especially that shaky and wobbly OIS during video recording looks horrible.
For the daylight shot the Note 4 still looks better. As it doesn't have as much after-processing done to the pics like with the other "modern" devices.
It's especially visible at distant objects, that still look pretty sharp, and not like some muddy mess.
I haven't tried the Note8 yet, as i'm not really a fan of it so far.

There's quite a difference between S7 and Note4, moreso with LG. I don't like the LG pic, too much overexposure and consequently less detailed than Samsung ones. Coincidentally, I find the S7 oversharpened in contrast to the N4. Maybe they overdid post-processing... or maybe it's my own bias...
About OIS I never liked it on my N4, it tends to do whatever it likes
It's the best you can do, try the phones irl scenarios and pick the one you like the most
Is The phone an decent competitor to the Note 8? I am planing on finally replacing my G4 at the end of next year, yea still time left, but at this point something like Note 8 is probably something I really want to get...
