That's true, But in this day and age the game/movie is as good as its story, Graphics/Effects are not a challenge any more, game and movie creators are only limited by imagination.

I'd guess that 99% of people buying COD games, don't buy it for the SP anyway, but just for the abysmal, yet unique, gameplay.

Yes, not a challenge it's a question of money and effort, The technology is there.
You can buy a graphics engine and not develop from scratch and use you own textures.
same thing is done in the auto industry wiki link

Yeah, those two examples I gave were about ready game engines that are multi purpose and run like dogshit. Only Dice with their frost bite and ID Software with ID Tech6 seem to be able to deliver something gorgeous to look at running at 60fps.
And graphics are not only about textures and graphics engines. There is Art direction which leads to a believable gameworld, content that fits the game world, animations, characters and interactive stuff so that it doesn't feel like a simple painting. Making a game look good is something that is so terribly hard, only a few select games are able to achieve it and they pour in hardcore effort. I have no clue what your point is in trying to trivialize any part of game development...
With your argument you can just say that ANY problem in game development is solvable by throwing money at it. Bad story? Hire better writers! Bad graphics? Hire better artists, animators, etc. etc...
It's pretty harsh of you to assume that I am a cynic, simply because I was criticizing a bad point you made...

I tried the SP in the ISO-demo. Meh, uninstalled when reaching the third "level".

According to the latest news, the game is now fully on dedicated servers.
I have the game steam shared from a friend and must say that it has it's moments of fun and is the first CoD after CoD4 and CoD WaW i actually like to some degree in MP.
But its not worth the price for which is selling currently.

Ive been playing the SP campaign every single COD since the original and so far I like this one! I do not play MP. I havent touched COD multiplayer since COD2 on PC
Anyways the COD campaigns since COD4 usually have the same vibe but its enjoyable. I like that they included a few stealthy missions like when you play as the French girl. It has somewhat of a MOHAA vibe which is a game I played to death (SP and MP).
I love the settings in this game though. Visuals are also very good IMO. I think its worth the usual SP play-through at least once for the visuals. Whoever buys COD games for the multiplayer experience..
Anyways please take me back to Medal of Honor Allied Assault!

It took 2 weeks but apparently hackers are now running rampant. It's not dead yet but it will be soon if SHG don't pull their heads out of their asses.

Guess they won't care since 99% of the player base is on consoles anyway, and it's too late to refund on pc now for most people.

well I have 20+ hours and not seen a cheater yet (maybe one)...
but there are two perks:
espionage - if you get dmg by player using this crap, you will be seen by whole team for 6 seconds on minimap (realtime movement)
instincts - if someone is aiming on you, and he is not in your FOV, you will get nice alert (whole screens turns yellow)
and also if you are out of bounds in WAR, everyone on enemy team will see you for few seconds through walls

Or people paying someone to level up their characters in an mmo (and then wonder, when their account is compromised down the line haha).
It's stupid as hell, but if people have nothing better to do with their money...

It's fun, I'll give it that. But the lack of innovation on a technical and gameplay level is staggering. It's basically been the same game reskinned for the last 10 years and everything about it feels old. But it's fun..
Too bad the sales are as stellar as they are. It will perpetuate this lack of innovation and this quake engine for probably the next 10 years.
But people were so hungry for a WW2 game I suppose.

I enjoyed Infinite Warfare infinitely more than WW2.
Speaking purely singleplayer. I don't care about COD MP.

Are you sure its IW Engine? I seem to recall they made a new engine 2 games ago. Not sure though.

Treyarch uses their own split for their COD games since Black Ops 2 or so I believe, IW uses incremental updates for their IW Engine or what it's called for every game although I don't really know what Sledgehammer is using here probably some variant of IW Engine and then tweaking it to suit their needs similar to what Treyarch did I guess?
No idea what's left of idTech3 in it at this point either, probably something in there still being all Rocket Jump twitchy though heh.

Same here. Was pretty underwhelmed by WW2 campaign but liked IW.
1 and 2 are still amazing.
