Do the collectibles give you unique perks, weapons or anything of the like? Collecting for collecting's sake rarely is worth it to me, at least.

Searching for the collectibles is super boring. The graphics are rather detailed and they not obvious to spot. You have to run around in every corner while pressing continuously on the magic "E" key...

They are actually easy to spot (look for flashing/blinking objects) and they are shown on the map, but I only noticed it when I nearly finished the game (perk related?!)

Concept art can be pretty neat but finding these are a pain, sound track CD's also don't always stand out but the log files and "emails" ("tapes") are a bit easier though yeah they can be everywhere.
Perks well it just requires doing X Y amount of times but it gets a bit boring for each tier, axe to dick 100x just to get the throwing axe perk for example or well you just need to kill with the throwing axe but I think it was one of those needing 25 kills per level and 4 levels.
Though yeah as mentioned earlier you can save and load and it'll persist so it's possible to unlock some of these very early.
Low hit feedback (It's a dual wielded triple barreled shotgun, why does this feel so weak!) both from and to players is a bit boring too, just dying because apparently something hit you has happened more than a few times.
Gore effects are nice as always though but even getting in a dual blast from the shotgun isn't guaranteed to take someones head off so it's a bit random what happens unless you use heavy weapons or explosives but even then it can vary.
(That laser weapon early on has a pretty high chance of disintegration but even so quite a few enemies just ragdoll over instead, ha ha.)
Can't hack apart dead bodies either though if you're lucky you can pry off some more armored bits from the big-boy soldiers, would have more of a impact of a group of enemy soldiers were how to say, you shoot one of them and then toss a grenade and that body gets blown apart too but it'll just lie there.
Environmental destruction is pretty good though, taken up a bit during on level in particular but it's a pretty short sequence so they could probably afford to increase detail a bit for the game here.
EDIT: There seems to be some model collectibles too, I think I found what looked like a bow on one level just after the town. (KKK's being promoted in the trailers and then it's two dudes playing pinball in the final game after somewhat clumsily talking to a soldier.)
https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4513/24165851328_383ecaf369_o.jpg
(Not the normal way to take a screenshot but if the game does not want to co-operate then well windowed mode and a desktop capture will do it. )
EDIT: Flipper? Pinball? Eh either works perhaps.
Also the 1.1 update seems to be out of beta now, breaks the skybox in a few levels which doesn't seem to have been resolved before they pushed it out of beta.

Holy fucking hell the level design in this game is just pure fucking asinine. Between constantly having to spam E to pick up shit, being on the lookout for 2cm grates in dark walls in a game with no flashlight, and CONSTANT dead ends from doors which, up until that point, opened with no problem, I feel like the map itself is the fucking enemy.
Quite a step backwards for the series. Old Blood was a far better entry in more or less every regard.

very short game, between the cutscenes and the hub it feels like it has very little gunplay and in the end made me want to replay doom in the future, the music is excelent too, its another reason to forget stealth and go on a rampage for the music to kick in.
the story maybe wasnt the best but there are some really interesting characters and they are very well written including the dialogue, the cinematography of the cutscenes also is very well done, the game started excelent but the second half after the twist is like a parody which i didnt liked and felt out of place, the tone just wasnt the same after 2 and a half games.
kudos for the developers and bethesda to not shy away from the violence and other slurs, playing the first minutes i was like teleported back in time when games were not censored like today.

Interesting. The story for me was just the other way round. The whole heavy first part seemed so out of place for me, in a game about robot dogs breathing fire, that the parody part fitted in much better.
The twist part is so dumb, you cannot take anything seriously here.

The intro mission balances really well dark humor with the gritty theme, neither of them coming on top. The inner thoughts of BJB keep the narrative alive without putting a break on the action. This parallel presentation is completely lost after the plot twist when the game becomes a cinematic stutter with edgy humor that's probably border-lining a political agenda.

I am enjoying the whole experience, the fighting, the story, the characters, the guns..
only a couple complaints:
I'm playing on the second to last difficulty
enemies have insane aim from afar
no dmg indicator while not really low on hp/armor
some collectables are marked on the map, some aren't
you get marks on the map when you collect the MAP item, it's usually around the start of each level
I cannot go back to replay levels to collect stuff I missed?
what's this vault thing that will unlock in 7 days?!

As far as I know, the Vault is the first(?) DLC.
Quote: | Those who pre-ordered the game were handed Episode Zero, a free bonus opening mission that introduces the three heroes included in the forthcoming DLC. It also included in the season pass.
“There are a few extra surprises behind the vault door when the timer reaches 0,” said a representative for the company. |
The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and bad things. The good things don’t always soften the bad things, but vice versa, the bad things don’t always spoil the good things and make them unimportant.

You can go back to the areas later to look for the missed collectibles and gun upgrades. You just have to unlock the areas(or übercommanders) with enigma codes once you get to a certain point in game.

So far weak 7/10. A little bit disappointed, mainly due to bugs or strange mechanic decisions. Not to fond on level design either.
- There is a hit indicator but it appears when you have around 20 hp and on higher difficulties you will be probably dead before you notice it.
- You got the new mechanics like jump slam that are useful in just a few places so they feel useless.
- Invisible walls
- Strange LOS of enemies sometimes they don't see you when you are sneaking around and later they can spot 1mm of your body sticking out of geometry
- Idiotic AI. When one enemy spots you, everyone else know where you are, even if he is half a kilometer away from you. And they almost always rush you like it's 1996. If you sneak kill a guy that other enemy is looking at he won't get freaked, alarm anyone or run away just slowly start looking for you.
Spoiler: | On personal note dropping a bomb on New York City in game is bestial act of cruelty by nazis. When you know that US dropped two on Japan it's just... |

I have 9+ hours in the game and still not finished.. have only completed one assassination mission so far.. I am playing on the second hardest difficulty level and afaik I haven't triggered a single officer alert (= I reloaded until I was able to stealth kill everybody ), thus I spent even more time with the game, or does the game timer increase anyway?
The journey so far is great, even though the story telling is all over the place. Really heavy in tone and now it's just absolute silly kindergarten.

Does completing the remainder of the commander kill missions at least award some special cutscene?
I completed the campaign - it was crap and ended right when they actually had a good reason to keep it going, but I can't be assed to go back and play every level literally in reverse just for the sake of saying I did.
I can never be free, because the shackles I wear can't be touched or be seen.

I am not sure but I think TNO was MUCH better... and 2009 was also much better... Maybe I need to replay them to check

TNO is way better than this here.
Had to google though what Wolfenstein game was released in 2009. Can't even remember that one anymore. .lol:
