Yeah, really. To each his own, I guess. I like the exploration, but the world feels like something straight out of a seriously bad b-movie.

I tried playing it for a bit, and I instantly got the exploration bug. Typical for PB games, but still nice. That's the good part. The bad part... The world feels incredibly cheesy and cheap to me. It's the Sharkando of post-apo games, with people who call themselves Berserkers because it sounds cool, magic and tech really awkwardly fit together and dialogue lines that make you cringe so hard your face nearly splits. Combat is also as bad as ever, but that's PB for you, they can't design a decent system for the life of them. That, however, is okay. The world though... I honestly don't know if I can stomach it, even though I do see some fun to be had in this game. I'll give it a few hours.

Well it's a bit better in german still a bit cheesy but that's true for everything here these days, i guess the localization makes it seem worse, i noticed that with their earlier games as well.

I don't think PB has ever released a major patch for anything, usually just very tiny tweaks. That's one thing that kind of bothers me with them, always have.

Yeah, considering they're already working on Elex 2 don't expect much in ways of post-release support for this one. Razz

Well, having lived in the Ruhrpott for some years myself... I feel like the cheese is actually pretty true to life. In pretty much all of their games. But maybe you guys are talking about something else being cheesy Laughing

Wow, they are, it seems. "supported with 150,000€ from EU".. well, good for them, at least 1 thing that EU has done right Wink

....now if EU could also put in 150,000€ for support of patches for the two games, that would be great Very Happy

9% of the entire budget.. its kind of crazy. i mean entire games has been made with far less budget than that. tbh you'd think their games would have a little higher standard with this type of money, i bet the cost of Gothic 2 was less than 150K euro..

I think it's mostly salary, at least according to Pankratz. They treat and pay their small team pretty good from what I know and I respect that.

I think the flaws of the game stem from stubbornness. Pankratz didn't react very objective towards the criticism of the combat... I saw it live on stream... you could tell he took that personal... but rather than taking the criticism, he went full on "defense mode"... which was sad to see.

Monthly? I got alot of people that are coders for companies (not games though) and certainly do not earn 75k a month Laughing

And I'm sure devs wo work on games, depending on what they are doing.. make alot less than they do.

But I guess you assumed yearly.

oh, obviously not monthly Smile
But yearly salary (the employer costs are quite high - actually they're not that high after all... I thought they're very high there (like in Finland and in Austria)).

But if 150k was 9% -> budget is 1,650m. Someone mentioned earlier that team size was 30 people? (maybe it was in a different topic about a different company).
Anyway, would be very small budget or low salaries for a team of 30 (unless 28 of them are interns Razz)

Anyway, haven't gotten around buying the game yet. Maybe this weekend. I've always liked pb games, some more some less, but usually there's something good in all of them.

They are currently 27 people in total apparently. I mean, as long as they can produce everything themselves, they don't need to pay more than the wages (yes, I know, I simplified this alot, but I hope my point comes across) and the team just slaves away driven on their salary and passion. At least that seems to be their work attitude, which I actualy love about them. I mean, they repurposed a fucking normal house as their office. It's like the indie dev upgraded from the garage to the living room Laughing

But yeah, the flaws of PB games are propably more based on possibly incompetence, stubornness and other shit than actual funding. At least that's the feeling I have.

This is basically the very first time our opinion differs.

I agree, the whole game setting, writing, and everything else is B-movie level. But that is exactly, what I was expecting.

The combat I like - same as all PB combat. I like the feeling of discovery and having to work hard to become powerful.

Nothing in Steam DB so far.
https://steamdb.info/search/?a=app&q=elex

Usually there's some in-progress test or Q&A branch or even a daily build branch but nope, no further activity in six days since the public branch was last updated.

This time PB outdid themselves in how majorly bugged the game is. None of the attributes work in a way their description says - strength does NOT increase melee damage, Constitution does NOT affect HP in any way (neither when increasing Constitution nor when leveling up with more Constitution), Intelligence does not increase mana, etc. Many skills are bugged too, such as "Extra Hitpoints" giving 10 HP once and nothing after level ups, books and "Bookworm" skill giving no XP, "Experienced Hunter" not affecting your companion kills.

Lets see how fast they will patch this mess (if ever). But playing it in a state like that is just pointless.

Maybe you haven't found all addresses to make it work via CE?

Have you tried testing it without cheats?

1) Lenovo Legion 7 (AMD Ryzen 7 5800H, RTX 3080 16Gb, 32Gb DDR4, SSD 1TB +2TB

2) SFFPC (streaming via Moonlight+ Sunshine)

I found addresses for attribute points and mana/HP - enough for testing, without CE the results would be the same.

@PowerGamer

Create a topic on the steam forums then, post your findings and let's see what others and, hopefully, devs, have to say coz this needs to be addressed pronto if true.

PS cheatengine tables are out on the unofficial forum.
