Is there any way to unlock the keys bound to quickslots? I usually assign these to the numeric keypad, but they are locked in this game.

Bit of a pain having to press 1 on the main KB to equip my weapon every time.

Thanks, I do actually have a Corsair KB which allows me to remap keys to other keys, which is what I usually do. I just don't see why I should to be honest. Not everyone is right-handed. I find it much easier to use the numeric keypad/arrow keys.

I just thought I must be missing something, I mean why lock certain keys for remapping?

Enjoying Elex a lot. Much more than FO4. The world is great with lots to find. The English voice acting seems fine to me. I do wish the protagonist expressed more and proper emotion. The same sentence can mean things depending on tone and inflection. Pacing is great and quests are solid. Combat is difficult but IMO not bad at all. Game's not perfect and needs some solid patching and improvements but still its a fun experience.

So, how buggy is the game compared to previous PB games?

Can it be enjoyed already, or better to wait some months for patches?

Take it immediately.
It's ready and hard.. Wink

Albs are stripped of emotions. Even though he is a defector, I doubt that will change later on in the game.

Really disliking the artificial level limiting on damage. If the enemy is "skull level", suddenly my bow does nothing. Then I level up once or twice, the enemy is no longer skull, and the same bow does decent damage.

yeah im not sure how its possible to miss this, and i can't say i keep 100% attention to the story. i guess it would be interesting if he gradually gets more emotions so you have character progression not only through skills but through how the protagonist is developing when not using a drug that makes him emotionless..

Clerics are the more mage oriented ones but from my understanding of them they're more like a biotic class from Mass Effect rather than full on mage plus their faction is a bit like a cult.

Outlaws uses stims and prefer ballistic weaponry whereas the clerics use energy weapons.

Berserkers have "magic" but it's more like buffs far as I understood it and they are more traditional fantasy with heavy plate armor and up close melee plus classical bows.
(Tech is forbidden, having such stuff out causes them to be really angry with you and apparently this is also considered for your gear such as the jetpack or even the UI such as inventory and how that's accessed.)

Seems like Berserkers are your best bet. You can see some of the magic they use in this video:

I plan on joining the Clerics, as they seem like a cool bunch of badasses.
Can anyone tell anything about how well their story is?

I don't think PB has ever released a major patch for anything, usually just very tiny tweaks. That's one thing that kind of bothers me with them, always have.

They were allegedly working on a major update for Gothic 3 including the possibility of a official set of tools for modifying the game but the deal with Jowood or rather how they couldn't come to agreement led to them splitting off and the game fell into limbo though the resulting fan patch and mod tools probably go beyond anything PB would have fixed if they had kept working on the game.

Jowood wanted to move to a expansion I believe, ultimate a different studio was selected and that resulted in a terrible game though Jowood then tried rebooting the game as Arcania a Gothic Tale ultimately settling for just Arcania but it didn't pan out either and the stand-alone expansion for that wasn't very good either.

For PB? Far as I know Risen 1 saw some updates, Risen 2 and Risen 3 weren't updated much though Risen 3 was re-released as a enhanced edition free for existing owners which had some improvements (And funky looking cloud tech.) so yeah I don't have any major expectations of them doing anything too major for Elex but the game might be in more need of a patch so hopefully they are working on something to resolve at least some of the most important known issues. Smile

Can't be worse than some of the remaining bugs Bethesda leaves but for that the Creation kit allows for modders to fix several of these issues unless it's part of the engine code which isn't as easy with the Genome engine since it's not quite as mod friendly.
(Pretty exceptional what the community got out of the Gothic trilogy but it also took a lot o time and work.)

EDIT: Not too sure how active or involved PB is with their community on forums and such, Risen 1 saw several employees interact on their own forums and the World of Players one but since then I believe they have been more quiet and involved though the German community involvement might be better, they even used to have private beta tests and such but I don't know if that's still a thing at all, employees have been shuffled around a bit too and others have left to do other things but they are still doing the same type of games though Elex ups the scope a bit.

I guess it will also depend on sales. I'm gonna buy it because i like to support them and i hope they will release a patch to make it even better. I hope everyone who likes the game will do the same.

edit:

heh, i could not agree with you more PB...;

"doing the same thing over and over, it's insane!"
"how can people be so blind, we are losing this war!"
"it's not like there isn't a solution, but people stick to their old ways, and new thinking be damned!"

protagonist:

"..something tells me your attitude is going to get you into trouble".

Very Happy

I want to be a cleric so I went with my rusty axe and no armor fresh to the cleric hideout on the hardest difficulty. I feel a bit out of place.

I killed a quest guy called shorty by just attacking. It took a while but somehow he didn't fight back much because he was out of stamina constantly because of my attacks. Combat is atrocious. I was going for the ranged weapons but now I don't know. Killing skull enemies with the starting weapon seems very weird.

Game itself has a lot of potential will play it more for sure. Even tho there is a ton of goofy shit like the conversations. Sometimes they just keep on rambling on useless shit.

Always hate this type of quest marking on the map too.

Anyone managed to disable double-tap for dodging yet?

It's really unbelievable how amateurish PB still are after all those years, to not let people disable shit like that.

Well... so maybe it is worth to wait for Community Patch and sale? Wink

I tried playing it for a bit, and I instantly got the exploration bug. Typical for PB games, but still nice. That's the good part. The bad part... The world feels incredibly cheesy and cheap to me. It's the Sharkando of post-apo games, with people who call themselves Berserkers because it sounds cool, magic and tech really awkwardly fit together and dialogue lines that make you cringe so hard your face nearly splits. Combat is also as bad as ever, but that's PB for you, they can't design a decent system for the life of them. That, however, is okay. The world though... I honestly don't know if I can stomach it, even though I do see some fun to be had in this game. I'll give it a few hours.

Really?

I think the world and the exploration of it is the strongest point of this game.
