I guess going for the Nemesis difficulty is the way to go?
"Normal" sounds too casual for a AAA game. Though Nemesis sounds like buttrape.

Camera is kind of weird in this game, far too close sometimes, FOV is kinda whack as well.

I remembered that from the first game, they come back eventually unless you use a decapitation finisher. (Played with in the second game, one of the orcs outright states this.)
I actually killed a orc captain a short while ago and then just a few moments after another captain just barrels straight into me and screams on how I killed his blood brother, so he gets to die too and then ANOTHER orc barrels into me screaming on how I killed his brethren and after him yet another.
There is some pretty interesting AI personalities to some of these characters even if it's RNG how these captains will turn out aside from quest specific ones that are always the same, anything from insane babblers to half-troll bruisers and more stealth focused captains each with their own strengths and weaknesses.
They also have a way to finish you off in a more brutal fashion this time and they actually break your weapon too when it happens (And they will kill you a few times.) which as with the first game also promotes them and levels them up but if you take them down you get your weapon back but it's also a bit stronger now.
Also a lot of feuding between rival captains so there's a lot of duels and such going on as they rise in the ranks even without the players interference and as a new addition there's full on different clans of orcs instead of just sub-types such as hunter or defender (And a couple of new additions like the half-trolls.) I guess a more creative player could set up some pretty interesting encounters and the AI seems flexible even if combat AI is a bit weak.
There's a ton of British accent banter too as you sneak through the various encampments though also a lot of combat quips and taunts and such.
And yes the first game too allowed you to break orcs by killing them over and over as you encountered them, they change after every battle and whether it's scars or missing limbs or even their very mind you can be pretty brutal in how you deal with them.
(Though I remember just experimenting with it seeing how far I could push things, not putting the game down because that one orc came back and asked me to stop.)
Band of really dead brothers, and a song of ice & fire dialed up to #11
Bow causes frost nova looking things on a headshot, dagger causes corpses to explode though this can kill Talion too, lots of bodies means things start burning and with the ice going off it gets pretty busy, one of the bros can be seen slightly due to the glowy arrows sticking out of his arse in the background too.
EDIT: Came back wrong I guess.

(Maggots too, could just be one of those cursed or necrotic orc types but eh, probably also a returner since they get pretty fucking messed up after a few failures. )

I can't even think about downloading the game at the moment because I should start a multilayered strategic plan to delete movies and purge other beloved games, but that's good to know for the future. Granted, it might still play itself anyway , though at least having less cancerous interfaces is..something.
I didn't dislike the first Mordor either for what it was (brainless AAA popcorn Mcjunk ), provided that the player would ignore the many invincibility abilities and activate the self-gimping procedure in order to keep the combat free from something resembling a cinematic auto-resolve. I'm not sure this sequel is following the right route, but I'll probably give it an isowhirl someday out of curiosity and pursue the male fantasy®

Well the practices of this game are cancerous to our hobby, no?
If that is hyperbole... shit son, than I don't know how far you will bend for these publishers.
Anywho:
I was genuinely surprised that after all the slagging off here, people were still eager to download it.
I have a wild enough imagination to know some people out there would enjoy it (and that is fine)... but reading the comments just before release and then comparing it with the eagerness of getting it at release is what baffled me.

Is that a big deal, then? Do you mean training for yourself, or for your orc peons?

Okay, played a bit yesterday.
Two things i immediately noticed:
- Movement is very clunky. For example you get stuck at obstacles quite easily, instead of the character just automatically running over them. And jumping on or off ledges feels way too annoying. For example i was not able to just run over a ledge to fall down to the lower area. Nope, i first have to press a key to "hang" from it, and then press again to let go.
- Mouse controls are fucking terrible for me. It feels so muddy and delayed. Anyone else has this too or knows of a fix?

So installed. All i can say is WOW that HDR implementation. Fuck it’s so good colorwise. Tried SDR after just for laughs and looks horrible.
Think it’s the best i’ve seen pc and ps4 games combined.

Yeah barely started and just staring in awe at the beginner zones (cave, the forest area after etc).
Gonna be great when HDR becomes mainstream, such a great visual impact for no performance cost, it’s insane.
Also will be great since most people might then understand better what it actually does instead of ‘lolz halflife 2 had HDR / just use reshade and enable HDR’ etc >.<
