So after Fallout 4, we download the 1.4 executable file for Resurrection 1.5 for Fallout 2 in the Fallout 1 thread.

Yeah it's no longer funny.

Oh and the mod is starting really nicely, it's got strong Fallout 1 vibes.

Running a joke into the ground is what the hump is all about, I'm just fitting in.
But alright, I'll stop. Gonna play the mod now, thanks for the announcement guys.

Anyone knows a way to start the mod directly from Steam, while still keeping track of the playtime?

I tried creating a batch-file and a shortcut for the mod, with the same name as the standard FO2 launcher.
But i always just get an .exe error. Sad

I could add the mod as a non-Steam game. But then no playtime tracking. Embarassed

// Got it working now by just copying all the mod files into the FO2 root folder and some .cfg editing.

Well, played a bit of the mod.

Story seems to be nice so far after ~1h.

But i sadly can't bear the archaic gameplay controls anymore. Sad

The graphics are obviously not that good anymore.
Though what annoyed me more was, that in several scenes you had black bars at the sides. That's sadly a limitation of the engine itself and can't be improved.
One scene for example was just a very small location, and in 1080p probably half of the screen were just black bars.

Not sure i continue playing it. Was nice to experience a bit of Fallout 2 again though. Very Happy

PS: I guess there are no good story campaigns for Fallout Tactics?

@Drowning_witch
It's simple things for me that i regulary use.

For example to reload you have to keep clicking on the weapon till the reload action appears. No press of "r".

Or that you have to equip a Stimpak in one of your hands first. Instead of being able to use it from the inventory directly.

I loved the first two Fallouts back then and replayed them many times, don't get me wrong.

But i get older and newer games have more quality of life features for people like me. grinhurt

This has always bothered me, why don't anyone remake fallout 1 and 2 inside Fallout Tactics? Didn't it come with a level editor.

Level editor alone isn't enough, a lot of the game was hardcoded and the game's limitations would be too much for a proper RPG.

@Badrien: Definitely.

@Bob: Played them many times, and you never found out you can use any item inside the inventory by just holding LMB? Laughing

It'd be nice to have a dedicated reload button, true, but at least you can cycle the actions available for your currently held weapon by pressing N - makes it somewhat easier.

yeah, I get the same with very old adventure games. where you need to type and press a specific action button, like talk, use, pick up. that's where I draw the line myself. But fallouts 1,2, and tactics for me feel contemporary enough.

I'm having a blast with this 1.5 mod. For a fan-made content, it's incredibly good.

Nup I'd blame the derps (majority of gamers) that continually pay for shit re-imagining's of amazing classic games. At least Fargo is trying to give us what we really want rather than these god awful elder scrolls clones beth spat out.

No one wants turn based isometric games?, just like the new xcom series or divinity series assholes.

With tactics they screwed things up, imo. They should have made another rpg not that game.

Going to 3d was not the problem for fallout, the problem was bad execution as is always.

A coming announcement for a HD remake would be awesome - even if i didn't like FO1 that much compared to FO2.

But sadly Bethy are no fans of remasters/remakes. Sad

Well at least they are still selling the originals. I'd be unsurprised if they simply vanished one day and Bethesda decided that Fallout 3 was the first one.

this article writer is so clueles : "The lack of console versions of the collection is somewhat strange as the owners of these hardware platforms would be the ones most interested in such a set,"

as if they would ever get those old clunky w95 games to work on a console rofl, this shit predates even directx in some cases i think

I replayed Fallout 1 last year to cleanse the grim post-apocalyptic aftertaste coming from Fallout 76's announcement, worked really well (GOG version) with this mod on top of it: https://www.nma-fallout.com/resources/fallout-fixt-full-all-fixes-and-mods.8/
There are several installations, from the basic one that takes care of all the bugfixing to customizable addons/modules and UI improvements. Good stuff

There's actually a 1.0 alpha/beta version of Fallout Fixt (with a possible release in Dec 2019). One problem I encountered was strangely aggressive mobs. Robbing Hightower and saving the Brotherhood Initiate in Hub was hard because they'd aggro me from a long distance. Another one was missing Razors during the Adytum raid, and something went wrong in the Cathedral, so I had to kill everyone by hand before I killed them with a nuclear blast Smile

New features are good though. You can continue the game after the end...even if you were dipped and turned into a Super Mutant Very Happy
