Well the quest log will clear between the acts. but sure, it's very annoying to have quests stuck there if you're trying to do 100% completion.

They also DO have several quest trigger issues.

For example, at the very beginning (just after the ship) when you first visit the fort joy. The magister is killed and you can loot leg from her. This leg, when eaten by elf gives you a quest trigger. However, it can be also used in different way, and you can then get it back still. However it's extremely likely that you have done the quest when you get it back, and then when you eat it -> you still get the quest trigger (but when you try to follow it -> no new dialogues or anything)

BTW, if you play as Fane or have him in your team (let's be honest, you do, who wouldn't? Razz), you can use his mask to get access to racial abilities - like elven corpse eating - without changing your party setup. This can have some uses, especially since body parts are everywhere in this damn game Laughing And some of them act like skill books when eaten.

Fane has a interesting origin story so i'll have him in my party. That dancing woman also has a interesting story going on, don't know who to choose for the 4th. I like the lizard's personality but his story doesn't seem too interesting.

But honestly, i bet all stories end up being underwhelming. Kill some named enemy and/or loot something and they're finished.

Restarted the game in classic mode and this is what pisses me off lately in game. Either the game is too freaking easy or borderline torture. But please, no "in-between" lol.

Is the classic too easy?

a lot of people complain on steam forums that it's unplayably difficult on classic even.

To me tactician is very nice. Sure battles take ages + I have to redo them every once in a while (I would have failed the 'honor' more so badly Razz ).

On tactician it's just very important to have the class balance correctly (ie. you need quite a bit of CC, preferably both, magical and physical).

Only annoying thing is that you cannot easily estimate how many actions can the enemies do.
For example at one point you battle a monster who was able to teleport and hit 3 times a row (or cast 3 spells) each hit did over 200 damage, and aoe spells hit for similar amount. (this is not far in the 2nd act, so not that far in the game) - still was able to beat it after failing once as I just decided to use up my consumable CCs, once I got it knocked down, it stayed down until it died Razz (archers for example can knockdown every turn if you have knockdown arrows)

Classic so far, and I am still in Fort Joy, is extremely easy. I am confident I could get through the game in tactician, but I don't want too much headache either Smile

Yea, i think a lot of people just try to do the combat in 'wrong order'.
ie. you can initiate a battle with the 'civilian/criminal boss' of the fort very early -> this will just destroy you (at least on tactician). And same with the Crocodiles. They're very tough if you decide to start with that battle. (more doable than the boss)

I'm almost done with second island wondering what to do...

Start looking through quest logs and see that I still haven't found this "Mastr Siva"... So I didn't have the Spirit Vision skill at all which you were supposed to get when you come here I think lol

So much new stuff around now with this! Almost lvl 17.

Great game. I wish they fiddled more with the armor system though. Feels like it really wants you to focus on melee or magic dmg instead of just mixing both so you get access to all the fun stuff.
Their is a lot of variety and I've only just scratched the surface it seems so I'm probably missing something. Any tips on breaking armor with a balanced dmg type party?

Get the GOG version if you want patches. Otherwise you'll presumably have to wait until Codex release something. Given how many patches have come out since release, they are probably waiting until it stabilises.

Just don't even try, go full physical + one caster, playing with 2 casters and 2 physical was just stupid, this new armor thingy is not good at all if you want to do a party with variety.

I had 2 casters + physicals at start but it was just so stupid not being able to really even focus fire people that it makes the game way harder than it should be in itself so I removed the other caster for a Rogue and replaced the other caster with Hydrosophist/Aerothurge basically. And equipped 2H instead of 1H+Shield on my Warrior when I got to respec for first time as 1H+Shield is just as useless in this as it was in the previous game.
Just the fact that you can't even taunt people before their Armor is down makes the tank totally obsolete as the enemies can wreck the rest of your party before you get to taunt anyone.

Do you have Retaliation? Same thing happened to me - when he teleported me I took fall damage, which reflected back on him, making him hostile.

Make sure you are teleporting them to the right spot in the way down. I had issues when I tried dropping him all the way down and had to reload. That MIGHT be the issue.

Yeah I did the same thing, was hoping I missed something Sad
On the bright side it makes the idea of replaying the game with 4 mages kind of interesting for a challenge. Maybe 2 pyros 1 summoner and 1 hydro or some such combo.

Will you keep the unlocked skills if you change race again, or remove the mask?

It might even work without 3rd party tools, as you can connect directly via IP.

Sooo, i'm about to leave starter island and got the message you will never return to it.

Can i just kill every asshole now, especially the traders for maximum loot.
Or will it make someone angry (e.g. later in the game)?

Also got the talent Pet Pal now. Seems like a must-have in this game.

So far having a blast. First impressions were crap but now it's picking up. Ignoring the awful VA and writing.

Im playing solo Fane tactician. Dual wield with necromancer. Necromancer heals me for 90% now of dmg I do so I can easily heal up in a few hits. Making me able to tank a ton without a shield. And since I play alone I have to be creative with gloves of teleportation and barrels and stuff.

Teleporting enemies on rooftops so they can't reach me while I kill them. Same with play dead and barrels. Putting enemies stuck with barrels in rooms. Some fights I had to teleport one and play dead and teleport more so I could get through the fight.

Don't think I would enjoy the game with more than 1 char.

There are magisters on the 2nd island and I have a feeling the tension etc carries over. But im not sure how it is with the villagers in Fort Joy etc. .. so hard to say tbh, i killed the magisters who were hostile to me before leaving.

Yea i killed every Magistser too i came by too. (exception that one dude that wants to put you to prison).

But i decided to just kill most people that i'm pretty sure won't appear again later on.
Though in the end i didn't get as much loot as i hoped for, as you can't completely loot a traders inventory.

BTW if anyone cares: After the starter island you can respec all of your companions freely and also change their looks.

The quests annoy me too much though. I think I finished them all in the first Act but a lot of them are still active in the log like I missed something important. Maybe that's because sometimes I finish a quest and at some later point I talk with someone who tells me information about that quest and opens it again.

Some really stupid fucking design decisions -

1. Having to manually give/pick up all loot with my Bartering character. Same goes for buying items from merchant. Here's a fucking idea Larian - how about my party (no matter who's selected) gets the benefit of the highest bartering/reputation character as long as he's in the party? What purpose does this asinine mechanic serve aside from adding busywork?

2. During certain triggered events, NPC's start talking to (and are locked in) to whatever character happens to be closest to them when they spawn in or run up. Oftentimes this fucks me over as he's not my persuasion or "race appropriate character". Here's another idea, how about before we start the conversation you let me choose who's going to be doing the talking for this MAJOR FUCKING EVENT?

3. Unable to see/compare the pieces of gear equipped on my party members when selecting a quest reward. How am I supposed to fucking know what's an upgrade? Am I supposed to remember all 12 fucking pieces of gear each of my 3 other party members are wearing?

3. The amount of junk loot / red herrings in this game is insane. Again, merely to clutter the inventory/add busywork.

4. None of the map marker flags ever vanish, even after the quest is complete.

5. Crafting's useless. Have about 100 recipes, none of them useful apart from res-scrolls and healing potions.

6. Fuck off with your cheesy "boss fights". The one at the end of the starter island was like the shower scene from the movie The Rock for fucks sake (see here - not a game spoiler, the movie scene )
 Spoiler:

. Except instead of Hummel's men they had archers and mages positioned up there. I ended up having to cheese the hell out of that one with line of sight and luring them out one by one with my rogue. There simply was no other way to be able to soak that kind of damage. Cheap for cheap's sake.

It feels as though 80% of my time thus-far is spent dicking around trying to un-clutter my inventory or save scumming either due to the wrong person getting stuck in conversation through no fault of my own, or a pre-scripted "battle" (more like rape) where you're strategically positioned disadvantageously.

On the one hand I love the production value of this game (music, voiceover, graphics, characters), but man, all the "oldschool merely for oldschool sake" stuff really turns it into a slog.

I can never be free, because the shackles I wear can't be touched or be seen.
