Based on the best-selling novel by Stephen King, the TV show follows Brady Hartsfield (Harry Treadaway), a demented and warped killer who taunts retired police detective Bill Hodges (Brendan Gleeson) with a series of provoking letters and emails, forcing the ex-cop to undertake a private, and potentially felonious, crusade to bring Brady to justice before he strikes again.
Mr. Mercedes is set to premiere on August 9, 2017 on the Audience Network.
I'm actually really enjoying this, not read the book yet, but I'm going to.

From what my gf told me (big King fan), the other books go full fantasy, and thus they're completely different than the first.
I liked the realistic first season, so not sure if breaking this style will attract more viewers for s2. We'll see what they'll make of it...

Second one was still realistic, unless I'm forgetting something.
From what I remember of the third it went into more familiar King territory with

the bad guy is still in a coma in book 2, but he uses his mind to make people kill themself.
But I could be wrong, of course, having not read any of the books in the first place

That's the third, the second is a bloke comes out of the nick and goes to get his stash. Some kid has found it.
It's pretty grounded

Yeah, you can watch S01 as a stand-alone. Just forget the last 5 minutes or so of the final episode.
I don't even remember having seen S02 or not....
