Firefox 47.0 is out now:
http://www.ghacks.net/2016/06/07/firefox-47/

Nothing too special new.
But what i personally REALLY like is the new "about:performance" command. Primary meant for devs, but i often have problematic websites in my tabs. And in stead of closing them one by one, i now get a very nice overview with several stats. Very Happy

No, i never heard of Cyberfox. Only heard of Palemoon so far.

But i'm currently more than satisfied with Firefox and my selection of plugins. Very Happy
Therefore i have no reason of switching to some other Firefox fork. Also i guess the plugin compatibility will be worse with that?

or
https://sourceforge.net/projects/cyberfox/

using the intel 64bit version here, and never had an issue..

it has it own profiles so u can safely test it besides firefox..

Oh, and i also was an Palemoon user until i found cyberfox, haha.. and i loved palemoon..

edit: u can also import ur profiles with "Profile Buddy"

Hmmmm interdasting, palemoon has been my choice for a few years now. Might just give that cyberfox a shot...

Is the address bar still working(that selector just right of the URL bar, used to be on most browsers a few years back)? Is it faster than Palemoon? Any cool new features? Razz

hmm, selector?
what u mean by that?

Performance i do know, its faster..

features..umm, some extra settings in options, fast, lower ram usage then Firefox and more.. Also that integration of classic theme customizer..

i did some screens, but its Look changed quite a bit, since i went full token /trtansparent style, haha.
i just love it minimalistic and clean..

Tabs under adressBar like in the good old days, not on top.
Recoloring and much more...Enjoy

some pics:

u mean this?

nice and clean Smile

Have Fun trying it out mate...

greetz Very Happy

edit:

if you install it and that "thingy" isnt there, just go into Cutomize Cyberfox, there you will be able to turn it on, edit it, change it or whatever you want for it Wink

the only thing i want now is full GPU support for videos..
But i guess all firefox versions have this. especially the new one..

Look in the "about:support" page to see this..

Also, how the heck do i enable h264 support? Youtube shows it red..(not there)

what gives? i have Full h264 support to my knowledge (gtx670)

does anyone know what i have to do to enable h264? (about:config) or addon..

If anything 64bit version CAN use much more RAM than the 32bit.

Your post got me interested in cyberfox so i decided to try it. H264 decoding works here (haven't changed any settings really, just installed the lastest cyberfox)

Hardware H264 Decoding Yes; Using D3D11 API

the openh264 codec addon was installed by default for me

No, it's also significantly faster than it's 32-bit version.

Source:
https://www.raymond.cc/blog/mozilla-firefox-64bit-build-performance-compared-to-32bit/

The article you posted concludes that 32bit is marginally faster and consumes signifactly less memory Idea

Well it kinda has to, after 2 GB there's a stop unless it's Large Address Aware enabled at which point it can go up to I think ~3.5 GB.

Then it either starts swapping or just crashes. Razz
(64-bit won't have that limit and Firefox is pretty fond of RAM though it caches more than it generally uses or well, reserves I suppose it's called.)

I really recommend trying Firefox 57 Nightly, shit is blazing fast! And very stable.

I've been running it as my everyday browser (replacing Chrome) for 2 weeks now, not 1 issue to report yet.

And it's going to get even better after 57 is final, when the Quantum project technology is mature enough Smile

Isn't the 57 build the one that's going to fuck up most all existing add-ons? I seem to recall reading something about them moving from add-ons to "Web Extensions".

One of the main reason I use Firefox and not other browsers is because of the healthy array of add-ons that have added tons of convenience. Most of these either have no, or very shit/shady copies of themselves on other browsers (at least that's the state Chrome was in when I last tried it.)

If that's going to be the case I suppose I just won't be updating past 56.x.

Yes, and all of the addons I use already have (at least) a beta version ported to webextension and fully working. And yet a lot more to come Smile

I wouldn't worry much about the addon aspect of the changes.

Got 55 installed some days ago.
You now get an info under the Addons tab, which addons are not ready for the coming addon-change: Out of my 20 only 2 so far are ... And one of my favourite ones Tab Mix Plus announced today they are not sure they will do the needed update, because of how much work it would take. Sad

Seriously, those fuckheads at Mozilla should have handled this much better.
I fear many of the (niche) addons won't be compatible with FF 57, and that some others decide to stop updating their addon out of protest too. Embarassed
