Did you play the SP campaign of the Original Starcraft before or just wanting to test the remaster ?

There can be no mods for this because Blizzard has the original graphics assets.
"Smooth Unit Turning" is quite intriguing, it can really make the game not looking like it's 20 years old (not kidding).

Online Authentication is very old method at this point, I guess it is more to do with lack of BT emulators for most scene groups and RLD gone downhil(bearly releasing anything these days).

Yeah, and it's a bit amateurish.
Tried the campaign last night with all new bells & whistles turned on. Looks great, slightly weird at first because the graphics is now TOO sharp, but the original art style is preserved (it was also cartoonish, but "dark" cartoonish and not so obvious due to low res).

I just tried last night "To Chain the beast " Map from Mass Recall, on the hardest difficulty..
One thing for sure : It seems to me the Fan Remake is far more challenging then the original one/remestarted , I have yet to make any signify progress.. ,
That mission was already hard in the original but the Fan remake hardest settings took it to a whole new level.
I just read/saw on youtube from a guy who started an whole walktrough of the official remestarted that aside from graphics improvements(and battle net) they didn't actually changed the gameplay at all, not even changed the diffictuly/AI settings, something that mass recall did... Even added more challenge options.

I concur. I did beat Mass Recall Terran campaign in early 2013 and it was a complete bitch, difficulty went through the roof compared to the original SC:BW, which wasn't bad per se, it was added fun. Two years later, in the 2015 summer I did beat the whole Mass Recall's three races campaign and it was really difficult in parts and easier on some others.
TL;DR: Mass Recall adds an extra flavour to the old, beloved SC and SC:BW campaigns. Must play for RTS fans (and it's completely free). Remastered should be exactly the same as the originals.

The remastered version is faster but otherwise it seems to be near identical.
(Someone in that Neogaf thread even had a mission with a 30 minute countdown, ended after 20 so it does run a bit faster in general for some reason.)
You can even toggle the new graphics on the fly which is why things like the new portraits are a bit wonky in terms of animation as they needed to sync exactly to the old ones.
But that also means pathing issues and similar are unaltered though fans seem to prefer it for some reason?
(Can't select more than X units can be a gameplay thing but having your units spread all over when trying to navigate through a area is more of a glitch I'd say.)

Did he play on normal speed? Because if you speed up gameplay in options, in-game scripted timers also speed up (this doesn't mean the total runtime of a game).

Looks like that was it, game defaults to faster by default for the speed settings.

I jjust did the "Survive for 30mins" mission with the in-game timer on...and it only took 20 minutes 0_o
Was it always like this?

The game runs at "faster" which is like 1.5x the speed.

Incredible. Redoing the (display) engine to support modern OSs and APIs and creating new sprites (with specular, normal, emissive, etc maps) was *work*. Base game is now free. I don't see how you can possibly complain about them asking for a small amount in return for the work they did
new GFX + exact same gameplay.. really couldn't ask for them to have done any better.
Well, tying it to the Blizzard app is kinda lame. For a couple hours after remastered launched I could run it without the app. Oh well!

I actually agree with you here. But only if the changes are big enough to warrant it.

Played it whole back in 2017 and it was absolutely stellar. Will try this new iteration for sure.

so its not enough with the 3 files that the mapster site says is all you need, you also need the cinematics from the older version?
Edit: i guess pickupartist means 7.2 because there's no 7.3 cinematics... i'll give it a go.
Edit 2: Seems to work.
Here's a small install guide for people who are unfamiliar with running mods with SC2:
1) install free version (took me ages, said it lost the internet connection, each time it installed perhaps 5-10% of the game so i had to restart like 15-20 times).
2) Create folder Maps and Mods in C:\Program Files (x86)\StarCraft II (or whatever you used)
3) install the 3 files here
https://www.sc2mapster.com/projects/starcraft-mass-recall
4) for some reason "StarCraft Mass Recall" is not located in "Maps" in the main mod file (SCMR_v8.0) so it needs(?) to be moved there, at least that's the default way of installing maps.
5) install https://www.sc2mapster.com/projects/starcraft-mass-recall/files/2819339, overwrite the dummy file.
6) start the mod by using SCMR Campaign Launcher in Maps/Starcraft Mass Recall
(press right most green button in the editor to start it)
