2 questions:

1.For those who have finished the game, did you experienced any story progression bug that prevented ya to reach the end?

2.For those who uses 5.1 or 7.1 headsets, do you have to configure anything in the game to enable such "Whoa" sound?..Or at the headset's drivers?

Planning on DL'in the game if the above can be answered.. I mean, if Permadeath is such a bluff, then F it, i'm in... I mean...There's no permadeath in the end..Right?

1. no
2. most so-called surround headphones are actually just regular headphones with some extra software to simulate a surround speaker system using binaural audio (Unless you have seven ears, true 7.1 is garbage). I believe the software also takes stereo sound sources and filters them, deciding which parts to send to each of the virtual surround speakers.

This is fine when using an application with regular stereo sound, but when you're using an applicationlike this that does its own binaural audio, the software just gets in the way and destroys the effect. So you need to turn it off.

Thanks. Something similar was told to me when asking for OVERWATCH's Dolby Atmos function. They told me to turn off my headphone's DTS/Dolby modes and allow the game to control it.

It's more stupid game design then a real bug since they put the autosave there on purpose without realizing it would break the game if people messed up, at least QA staff should have noticed it.

Glad you like it but the game is absolutely not a walking simulator, it's an action adventure i don't even get why ppl consider it one it has combat and puzzles after all and that's what you do for most of the game.

It's because of the way all the pre-release footage was, somewhat poor marketing or they just didn't want to reveal the true nature of the game. The early part of the game may make it seem like that as well.

I have finished it now however and I must say it really isn't a walking simulator. It's a proper game and a pretty challenging one towards the end. The combat becomes incredibly tense.

In any case, what a fantastic game! Somewhat confused about how it ended, but it's probably me just being dumb.

Also, pretty mad that I missed one run in the whole game (in the shipwrecks / tree area). What does the amount of runes you find affect? Does getting absolutely all of them do anything?

Having all runes unlocks a bonus scene at that "runegate" before the end. Nothing too important, just 20 secs talking and that's it. It's a letdown when you tried hard to get all these runes and then the only reward is that scene. Mad

There’s an extended extra scene if you collect all the runes

Hmm, thanks, I'll just look it up I guess.

Edit: Huh, so it's the scene with Druth? I got that in my playthrough too. I guess you don't need absolutely all of the runes.

Well, I have not been absorbed by a game in a day as much as I was by this today, in a very long time. They should be applauded for this, not for making a perfect game (because it isn't), but for making such a unique experience. I'm kind of left here wondering what the fuck do I do now. Happens with every game that I end up really loving, heh.

Tell em on twitter. Bet they'll like that.

I can relate to that feeling, I also have it after being immersed in a good game. Usually takes a few days of fucking about with casual games before I jump fully into a game again. Smile

its the same with movies too, when the whole industry is full of your mediocrity call of dutys, assasin creeds, hollywood remakes, there is always that 1-2 that stand out in a year. and at the end they leave you empty inside for a few days and cant enjoy anything else.

you know its good shit when 2 minutes in youre already sucked in where with casual games you get bored after a few minutes

Just finished. "What a game, what a lovely game" one might paraphrase. I can't remember a game sending shivers down my spine - there might have been some, but not to such extent as here. Probably, it's the binaural whispering and the overall atmosphere.

I finished the ride as well, it was a rather remarkable and unique experience, albeit clearly limited in the gameplay department. A clever story-telling experiment with interesting tricks and top-shelf mindfuckery.

The amount of work poured into making the game look and feel like an ongoing personal psychological warfare is impressive, with on-point facial animations, solid direction/voice acting, good visuals (minus the vaseline and some low-resolution textures, but nothing serious), clutter-free HUD, a quality soundtrack and decent performance as well on my vintage rig. Add to that the above-average quality of the audio and effectiveness of the binaural sounds (headphones are mandatory), with their unique use while fighting or looking for cues, and there's a recipe for glory. Or is there? Is ̵it a l̀i͏e?͞ Focu҉s!

That's when the shoulder evil companion comes in like a party pooper. While I enjoyed the game, I couldn't/can't ignore the fact that the actual level design consisted entirely of 100% linear W-powered corridors alternating repetitive visual puzzles, going through that simplified cinematic derpification process that has endangered many species in the gaming world. The combat sessions work well (considering their heavily streamlined nature) but like the rest of the game, they're based on a cinematic-driven style that never really gives that satisfying feeling of being in full control.

I became a sad panda thinking at all the modern stunning technological advancements, capable of creating such impressive visual threats, but incapable of being sustained by "non-cine-nextgen" mechanics. There would be a huge potential ready to be unwrapped, merging old school greatness gameplay-wise with the clever immersive modern narrative techniques but alas. Dude Sad

All grumpy thoughts aside, I'd give the game a 7/10 for the delivery and effectiveness of the brain torture porn alone, even though the focus on heavily scripted visceral immersion didn't manage to entrap me as much as I wanted to.

Did you even watch the review?

Game is not about combat. This has a story to tell, and that it does with aplomb. Look at it as a movie, with some interaction. It's actually very clever, and touches on a subject matter that is close to home for many, myself included, yes, and it does it rather well IMO. Great experience.

9/10 from me.

I got used to the FOV after a while now but it's still nice to have.

Strange i actually hear that a lot recently, 2 of my friends had their 980TIs fail just recently as well (i think one was playing Pubg at the time, he had the card for years not that it matters) and a few cases i read on various game boards, probably just a coincidence.

Played 2 hours - the atmosphere is amazing, voices a bit annoying and puzzles/combat okish. Liking it so far

Grainy ? why not just remove the filters if you don't like them?
Lower post processing or put this:
Quote:

[SystemSettings]
r.SceneColorFringeQuality=0
r.Tonemapper.GrainQuantization=0
r.Tonemapper.Quality=0
r.MotionBlurQuality=0
r.ScreenPercentage=100
r.LightShaftQuality=1

in AppData\Local\HellbladeGame\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor
Engine.ini or Scalability.ini forgot which one just put it in both.

It's not a very long game and it's mostly about story and Atmosphere,which are the main selling point if that doesn't grab you it might just not be for you.

finished it.

i feel that the ending was a little exploitative? im not 100% convinced that the ending was a satisfying conclusion to the massive journey that senua took. I call it exploitative because we're naturally triggered to respond to certain cues, so i found myself emotionally satisfied thanks to the use of music and the delivery of the lines at the end..

but beyond that, i feel like the story lost me a little at the very end. I know this is a game thats going to bug me due to the ending not finishing off the amazing experience i had for 95% of the game.

as for the game itself. i feel like the gameplay determined the story far too much. There were times they piled on the combat to convey struggle, how tiring and brutal everything was, but i was so engrossed in the story and the combat was so button mashy' that i didnt enjoy the battle of attrition sequences.

is there multiple endings? i missed out on 3 of the story 'things', and i wonder if 100% gives me a different ending. By showing me i was missing runes at the end, it seemed to hint that id get a different ending if i had them all...

ARGH

i just wish that ending had delivered in a thought provoking way as well as an emotional one, and not just an emotional one Sad that would have made this game one of the best id played in a long time - i mean it still is, but it could have been one of my all time favs, is what im saying. I still will end up buying it, i think its worth a purchase. Ill always happily admit when im wrong about a game, and i was wrong about this. It is NOT an action game, not a hack and slash, its more of a walking simulator type game with combat sequences in it, and I say that as a positive since I love walking sims and that, to me, is where this games heart truely lies - the combat feels entirely seperate from the experience and could easily be removed without affecting the structure. approach it as a story/metaphorical type game and its one of those most interesting ive ever played. No game has ever set out to put me in the characters shoes and emotionally destroy the both of us as well as this game managed to do it.

Don't think so. I lasted about an hour until I gave up thinking it was a bug. Also the Google people say there is only one ending.
