Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered may be in for a standalone release, something series fans have been asking for pretty much since announce.
According to the listing, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered will release on June 20 on PS4 and July 20 on Xbox One. The pattern fits the usual PlayStation Call of Duty exclusivity window.

For a "remaster" these days that's not too inaccurate though, full tech overhaul and not just upping the resolution and doing a quick port though the game itself is what it is and they did change the gameplay around a bit including online.
It might not be "Game of the year." material (Meaning more than just the printable sticker.) but it's a pretty good re-release of the old Call of Duty 4 game at least far as I'm aware.
...Though yeah these logo things for X out of X rewards at Y or Best of X and so on are mostly for marketing purposes.
EDIT: I'd say it beats stuff like the Bulletstorm remaster (But in that case what doesn't?) though it's just my own opinion, for some it's enough for the game to be ported over to the next platform whereas others want it to take advantage of the newer hardware or perhaps add some extra content, sometimes both.
EDIT: Oh and obviously selling it at full 60$+ pricing is a bit of a downer too.
(Seems the game is around 20$ for the PC Steam version of the original COD4 currently.)

€29.99 for the remasted - and €14,49 for Varity Mappack for it lol!
And don't forget that it's completely dead on PC, when it comes to the MP.
For me, that means nothing as I pretty much only play CoD with friends. Then again, I cant even remember the last time anyone of my friends said "hey, how about a game of CoD?"
It's a good remaster but I stopped halfway through and digged up original modern warfare... there is just something raw about it which i like more.

Sin317-"im 31 years old and still surprised at how much shit comes out of my ass actually ..."
SteamDRM-"Call of Duty is the symbol of the true perfection in every aspect. Call of Duty games are like Mozart's/Beethoven's symphonies"
deadpoetic-"are you new to the cyberspace?"
Out on Steam now.
It well deserves all the negative reviews it currently has.
If it was not for the price and the stupid "lets release some of the mp maps that the original included for free as dlc" the game would probably get quite good reviews though.
The reviews seem to have a common point of how originally the game was a updated version of Call of Duty 4 in terms of multi-player, negativity came in when Activision updated the game with loot crates and other enhancements that these players didn't want in what should have been a classic COD game.
(EDIT: And it's not just cosmetic either from what I've read, different weapons and such are also part of it now.)
Singleplayer is still pretty popular but MP has taken quite a hit due to this and as you pointed out the practice of selling some of the maps as DLC. (And apparently pretty expensively priced at that.)
EDIT: 40$ for the price of the stand-alone version hasn't been well received either or the time it took to make it a stand-alone release instead of bundling it with Infinite Warfare.

Yeah, €39.99 for the stand-alone and another €9,70 (and thats with -33% discount) for the Variety Map pack..
So the price of this remastered version is close to new ones. Kind of.
