Ghost in the shell - 9.5 / 10

I thought it would suck.. but it was one of the best sci - fi movies i have watched for the past years.. I especially loved the atmosphere / setting that the movie creates.. (btw when i watched the anime version many years ago i wasn't quite impressed by it but i loved it here)

Are You Serious

I could get somewhat that people like it, but I've seen similar high scores and I'm thinking: what kind of garbage have they been watching for it to be a 9.

feel good movie of July

Chris Eevans surprised me in this role, very likable character, much different than his role as captain america, shows his great versatility

Mckenna Grace solid acting for her age, definitely will be seeing more of her

War for the planet of the apes.

I got into suspiciously early screening today. The movie releases in Poland on 28th of this month, so why this one cinema did the screening in this super small 9 row of seats room is a mystery to me... 2 weeks before release here.

Anyway - very good movie. Just fantastic. maybe a little bit too long in the middle and music was too quirky sentimental at moments but holy crap this is how You end a trilogy. 9/10.

And gfx were just unspeakable. I've been looking for any uncanny valley, fast animation, bad moving wrinkle, wrong lighting... NOTHING. This is probably the first time I feel that gfx was PERFECT. Apes never looked out of place. Just pure madness how they did it. They were on the scene just as real actors were. I know its motion capture but it's even better than last movie.

GITS
7/10

+2 for the drop-dead gorgeous visuals and call-backs to the original movie, but everything else was painfully mediocre and by-the-book (could they get any more blasé than "what we do that defines us" as a tagline? Mind Is Full Of Fuck ).

The whole films coasts on nostalgia for the anime, and anyone who is not already a fan of it would be hard-pressed to find any of the characters even remotely relatable. When I saw the familiar faces, I was like "hell yeah, I know these guys". But when they forgot to carry their identities over from the original and replace them with gruff grunting grunts with zero personality, the magic quickly evaporated. Everybody looked the part, nobody played the part.

I didn't mind the rewrite, it is better they tell their own new story, I just wish this alternate version wasn't so meh. And that's what really bugs me: it's 'meh'.

Thanks for the review, made me want to watch it and I did. Smile

Gifted 8/10

I liked it a lot, very emotional and gripping in my book. All the main characters were good, but the chemistry between Evans and Grace's characters was great.

Scouts guide to the zombie apocalypse 6/10

A funny little zombie flick, I enjoyed it. Sarah Dumont was hot. Very Happy

The Mummy (2017)

6--/10

- the acting was mediocre

- the humour was bad (even worse than the 1999 film with dat clown Fraser, now that film had a shitload of unnecessary and cringeworthy humour)

- the script was pretty bad especially the first half+ of the film.

+ but I liked the ending .(+1 to 5/10 rating)

PS They got Tom..they got a sexy mummy..and they still fucked it up..oh well.

Fucking Holywood..I mean.. all that money and they still can't be bothered to find someone talented to write a decent script..

I kinda want to see The mummy and Ghost in the shell, but the reviews don't paint them in a good light...so I much rather watch other movies. Very Happy

CHIPS 7/10

Ya, your typical action/comedy movie, but it was entertaining. The movie gets a +1 for yoga pants. Very Happy

Forget about the anime and watch GITS as if it's the original film Very Happy then you might actually like it (keeping in mind it's Holywood, of course) Laughing

That place during the opening scene is amazing, you can go there to score steroids, pump some iron and stare at tits. Laughing

oh yeah, the reason i came here

black butterfly... veeeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrryyyy slow movie. picked up into something kinda decent towards the end, but completely blew it with a shit ending.

i feel like this could have been better as a straight forward, tighter 50-minute movie.

I was expecting a lot worse Very Happy Still not saying much, but it had its moments. Russel Crowe was good.

Spiderman - 6/10 - I loved the short time with the uber spideyman suit and the kid did a fine job. I was bored by half of the movie though. Action sequences are scarce and not very interesting. I don't want to waste words on this one since my wife perfectly worded it with the question "why did you bring me to a high school movie?". This movie did have one huge plus side, it made me appreciate how good Wonder Woman actually was.

Undefeatable (1993) - So bad that it's awesome/10

If you like B-movies this should one of your must see movies, no one can act, horrible dialogues, horrible training montages, quiet good fighting scenes, horrible one liners.
Awesome, awesome movie, hadn't have a good laugh like on this movie for a long time.

Ghost in the Shell (2017) - 7/10

Went into it knowing only that it was based on some anime that had some old PlayStation games associated with it.

Came out of it completely blown away by the exquisite cyberpunk cityscape and musical score. Just...wonderful. Haven't been that awed at the surroundings since 1998's The Fifth Element. The plot was decent, but doesn't really kick off until the movie ends. Still, I was thoroughly entertained. Bring on (and don't fuck up) the sequel!

Chips - 6/10

It had its funny parts, but not enough ones. Most of them are in the trailer for the movie.
Also, the ending was kind of weird and unexplainable. Abit messy.

Boss Baby 3D - 7/10
Entertaining kidults movie with more than expected visual delights. Story was a tiny bit over your regular summer animation flick, and besides a pair of conventions, thoroughly enjoyable. Will forget in a week tho, that's how it goes lately with these kind of movies... 3D was excellent.

The Island 2005 - 5/10
All sorts of dystopia used to blow cars, helicopters and buildings Bay-style, with the expected Johansson americanised eyecandy. Pass.

Nocturnal Animals - 8/10
Awesome film! Mature, elegant, disturbing, satisfying chain of events, and excellent acting. Kept me haunted for a while. Must watch.

What We Do In The Shadows - 8/10
Cheap (as in, low budget) satire of vampire & werewolves' films with a stellar comedy script. A Kiwi surprise Smile Recommended to have a laugh (or two!)

The Man From U.N.C.L.E - 7/10
Nice spies film, with an entertaining script full of twists. Great back & forth interaction between the three main characters, and great action set pieces. It kinda redeemed Man of Steel for me (shows that a good actor directing can do wonders, woman)

Chef - 7/10
Cuisine star goes broke because he can't keep his mouth shut. Feel good film with all the set pieces played right. Leguizamo's a treat, as always. Kinda refreshing, and hunger-inducing!

Youth (Sorrentino) - 8/10
Delightful movie about... yeah, getting old. Sir Michael Caine and Harvey Keitel are marvellous in this time & age, and to see them interact and behold through their eyes the wonders only experience, age and prostate problems cause is, lemme repeat myself, wonderful. If you still have a taste for life, Recommended!

The Brand New Testament - 8/10
God is a jerk. He's your middle aged man, treating his wife and daughter as servants or useless beings. He has a computer room where he creates everything, from lands to weather, the animals/species to Murphy's law and the desperation of waiting in line Laughing . His daughter -a 10 year old girl- has enough of that shit and breaks his Civilization XVI emulation, not before triggering a couple life-changing glitches. Totally recommended! European comedy at its finest Smile
