I'm fucking done with this on PC. Baldy's one crashes randomly, CPY's username part crashes, used baldy's crack on CPY, game works and freezes randomly and/or crashes. This is in conjunction with the random stuttering & cutscene slow down issues. Holy shit! What a disastrous port this is and I have been through some nasty PC ports. Fuck this, I'll go for the PS4 retail instead. Sad

I'm not saying this is a great port. But how many of those problems are from the warez version? Rolling Eyes

Stuttering is a big problem with something the game is doing though crashes I'm a bit more uncertain on besides the very frequently reported "white screen" issue that was a problem for AMD GPU's until they worked around it in a newer display driver release and also something that happens to some of the earlier Nvidia GPU's like the 780 from what I've read.

The game was never patched besides DLC compatibility however so whatever branch of Square handled the PC work they're clearly not too interested in supporting it beyond that initial release, wish they had some care for the product but nope.

Honestly, don't know and at this point, I'm really not bothered to test anymore. Either way, it's an extremely jarring experience and the developers should have really focused on getting this fixed as soon as the game had released. I mean the console version has got so many patches till now.

It's a shame as the game was really interesting and one of my most anticipate games of the year. Sad

Apparently is not the devs fault, Square Enix ported this and they don't seem to care at all...

This game is very average, calling this a masterpiece... well, i just dont see it, its short, combat is ok, theres a lot of backtracking, graphics are subpar..

It seems the anime fanboys go all over this and call it a masterpiece based solely on the suposed really good endings, wich is a shame, i couldnt care less if the game has multiple nice endings when the main game is not worth a single playthrough, i rather have one decent ending and a rly good game wich i can replay based solely on that, beeing a good playthrough. But to each its own..

Games are not usually called masterpieces for technical qualities (usually these games are flawed in this regard). NieR: Automata is called a masterpiece because of the compelling union between unpredictable gameplay elements and great storytelling.

After almost four months, and selling almost 500K units, NieR: Automata has not received any single patch
Quote:
When Square Enix announced that NieR: Automata would be released on the PC, a lot of PC gamers got excited. Normally, the PC version would be, by default, the game’s definitive version, however NieR: Automata was plagued by a lot of issues on the PC. Fast forward almost four months and here we are today without any patch to address its reported issues.

According to Steamspy’s datas, the game has sold almost 500K units, making it the most profitable of PlatinumGames’ latest PC games (both Vanquish and Bayonetta have sold less). However, and while both Vanquish and Bayonetta saw a number of patches, the post-launch support for NieR: Automata is nonexistent.

And while PC gamers can use Kaldaien’s amazing FAR mod, that particular mod brings some compatibility issues and bugs. As a result, PC gamers are forced to either deal with these compatibility issues or with the bugs found in the game’s vanilla version.

At this point, we should note that the PC version of Vanquish was handled by Little Stone Software. And while the PC version of Bayonetta was handled by PlatinumGames itself, Square Enix is listed as the sole developer of NieR: Automata PC.

From the looks of it, Square Enix has simply left the PC version of NieR: Automata to its fate, and we don’t expect any official patch to address the game’s issues (and they are plenty; from resolution and full-screen modes to control issues). And that’s just sad. Really, really sad.

I planned on buying this very soon.
But i guess i will just go with the isodemo. Don't want to support SquareShitnix more than needed.

It's a shame, this game deserved to look and play as good as it could on PC. I understand it won't appeal to everyone. However, I do consider it a classic due to it's pretty good storyline and gameplay oddities - like the very (very) final level - unexpected but somehow fitting.

I would LOVE to see a sequel - there is a TON more story that could come from this game. Sadly, I suspect that's never going to happen, so it'll be up to the lewd and crude Cosplayers of the world to re-enact how android babies are made...

I agree, the game definitely has enough quality to deserve a better treatment. Though there's Square Enix involved, once again they've demonstrated that no matter the amount of sales (500k ain't a bad number) the PC audience will always remain an afterthought, seen as third class citizens stuck with nothing more than a Personal Console.

The vanilla game truly has major compromising issues, most of them fixed by FAR, but the borderline unpresentable mouse controls and stability issues on certain rigs are still a big problem. I would recommend the isodemo_with_no_regrets(TM) mode, and then..the buy when it's five Square Euros. Razz Mobster with a Fag

Third party camera tools exist, as does certain texture mods. Very Happy

It's cleaned up every now and again but the screenshot and art sections on the Steam community forums for a title generally what people focus on for that particular game, though some like Heide or how it was called are kinda built around that type of activity entirely whereas here there's actually something of a game and even alternate playable characters.
(But it takes a while to get through it all even going only for the main endings.)

Have you got any other overlays running? Like MSI Afterburner with Rivatuner for example. It just messes up with FAR, so you should disable it before running the game.

They conflict but a delayed injection in RTSS will be enough to work around it. Smile
(Shutting it down is certainly recommended though to avoid any and all potential conflicts.)

.\Profiles\Global (File has no extension but is in plain text.)

[Hooking]
.. (Some other stuff.)

InjectionDelay=15000
InjectionDelayTriggers=IGO64.dll,GameOverlayRenderer64.dll

Something like that by default depending on which version of Afterburner with Rivatuner you are currently using, first value is milliseconds I believe and denotes a 15 second delay trigger before injecting.

Second is what triggers the delay, default is the 64-bit Origin and Steam overlay .dll files.

So you simply add to it such as this. ->

InjectionDelayTriggers=IGO64.dll,IGO32.dll,GameOverlayRenderer.dll,GameOverlayRenderer64.dll,SpecialK32.dll,SpecialK64.dll,d3d9.dll,d3d10.dll,d3d11.dll,d3d12.dll,dxgi.dll,opengl32.dll

For one example, would react to the SpecialK .dll files if you use those in addition to DirectX 9 up to DirectX 12 and also OpenGL plus the generic "DXGI" DirectX feature for D3D10+ Smile

Less is better, InjectionDelayDirect3D12=1 might also need to be set for compatibility depending on what version of Afterburner or rather Rivatuner you have and the version of SpecialK used, personally I just have it as a near global delayed injection triggering on any API besides Vulkan.

EDIT: Although the crash would usually be on start and not when in-game and trying to open the OSD.

EDIT: And if it wasn't obvious from the above mess then yeah compatibility between different hooks ("hookers") and overlays is all sorts of fun and a mess of compatibility. Very Happy
(ReShade, Afterburner, SpecialK, probably some other stuff too such as client overlays e.g Steam, UPlay, Battle.net and Origin and so on. )
