Blizzard's Most Hated Cheat Maker Is Unfazed By the $8.5 Million Case He Just Lost
Quote: | For years Blizzard Entertainment has struggled to take down Bossland, a German maker of cheats for online games like World of Warcraft and Overwatch, victory seemed at hand this week. Bossland didn't show up at a California District Court trial, and with no opposition, the court ruled that Bossland owed Blizzard $8,563,600 for 42,818 intellectual property violations. Not only that, Bossland would have to pay $174,872 of Blizzard's legal fees. That, it would seem, was that.
Or not.
We managed to get in touch with Bossland CEO Zwetan Letschew to learn his perspective, and for him, the fight is anything but over. In a conversation over email, Letschew asserted that he doesn't think the ruling can even be enforced in Germany.
"That is why we did not even defend ourselves in the U.S.," Letschew said, adding that he'd only asked the court to dismiss the suit since he believed the court had no jurisdiction over him. He also added that Bossland is considering an appeal, but has no "final word on it."
"There is no change before and after the default judgement, especially as this is pure punitive damages, and the European Union and its countries do not accept punitive damages in civil cases," he said.

The latest battle.net Agent update (Agent.5667) appears to have added a ton more telemetry data gathering, there's two specific logs now for it for one thing called Telemetry-FCS and Telemetry-TELE in C:\ProgramData\Battle.net\Agent\Agent.5667\Logs folder.
Opening the file for it C:\ProgramData\Battle.net\Telemetry\Policies\ and setting Participation from 1 to 0 might help for opting out for now.
{"throttle":{"rate":100,"limit":0},"batch":{"maxBatchSize":10},"retryDelay":[60,120,240],"metric":[
{"category":"userDefined","interval":120,"participation":0},
{"category":"network","interval":120,"participation":0},
{"category":"process","interval":120,"participation":0},
{"category":"traffic","interval":120,"participation":0}],"event":[
{"category":"userDefined","sample":1,"participation":0},
{"category":"log","sample":1,"participation":0},
{"category":"connect","sample":1,"participation":0},
{"category":"logon","sample":1,"participation":0},

{"category":"pro","sample":1,"participation":0},
{"category":"d3","sample":1,"participation":0}],"data":[
{"name":"default","package":null,"type":null,"sample":1,"participation":0}]}
(After opting out of most of it.)
EDIT: Though it could just be that it's more noticeable now instead of briefly noticing SystemSurvey.exe running every once in a while now that there's actual log files available, this has existed for the Battle.net client for a while now though to be fair I don't think they collect any personal information or how it's called.
EDIT: Oh and if you have several different version folders that's normal unless you clean out the old ones manually, Battle.net doesn't usually clean up those things but only the latest version is actually in use.
(For the "Agent" software and it's things and also the main Battle.net cient or Blizzard App or whatever it's called now in the Program Files folder.)
EDIT: And I guess if one were to log what Steam, UPlay or Origin are up to you'd probably see a lot of data being sent for those clients too, usually not a big deal and could help with bug reports and troubleshooting for example.
(Steam automatically sends mini-dumps and other error data for example.)

These mongoloids are creating folder named after the version of their Agent. So each time it gets updated I get a new notification by my firewall and need to create a new rule.
I hate this bullshit with each company having their own kaincjerz account etc etc. Use Steam you fucks!

If it's anything like the SC or Diablo "re-masters" they can go fuck themselves.

Blizzard Renames Blizzard Client to Blizzard Battle.net
https://worldofwarcraft.com/en-us/news/20972461/blizzard-battle-net-update
Quote: | When we announced that we’d be transitioning away from the Battle.net name for our online-gaming service, we suspected that the shift would be challenging. We understood that Battle.net stood for something special—it represents years of shared history and enjoyment, community and friendship, for all of us and our players.
Battle.net is the central nervous system for Blizzard games and the connective tissue that has brought Blizzard players together since 1996. The technology was never going away, but after giving the branding change further consideration and also hearing your feedback, we’re in agreement that the name should stay as well. Take it from the developer formerly known as Silicon & Synapse, and Chaos Studios, names are important too.
Moving forward, to help offset some of the original concerns we listed back in September, we will be connecting “Blizzard” to “Battle.net” in our logo for the service and in general when we refer to it in print: Blizzard Battle.net.
We appreciate your feedback and look forward to many more years of bringing players together online.
Thanks,
Blizzard Entertainment |
The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and bad things. The good things don’t always soften the bad things, but vice versa, the bad things don’t always spoil the good things and make them unimportant.

I just saw the title and I will hasard a guess: Bible Black 2.

Blizzard is making a mobile MMO RTS game, possibly Warcraft branded
Quote: | Summary:
- Blizzard put up a new job posting for a Unity based iOS/Android MMO RTS.
- It's not 100% clear if this is the same game as the Warcraft mobile game they've been making. These new jobs are quite senior, and Blizzard was previously hiring a bunch of non-senior staff to make a mobile title that's seemingly been in development for 18 months or so. Obviously it's a dead-ringer for brand + genre though.
- If you're currently sitting there and going "What on earth is a mobile MMO RTS???", then check out this short trailer for Art of Conquest, which is the most likely fit among games that have been called a mobile MMO RTS |
