Who said it has to sound like Battlefield? Battlefield games don't even have such a realistic sound design but the audio is extremely high quality nonetheless which should be mandatory for a 60$ game. But there are plenty of examples of non-AAA shooters that have a much much better sound design than the CoD series, Squad and ARMA 3 to name a few.

That's what happens when a company is spineless, and in order to please all the exponents of the social "twitterthought" (who will never be satisfied anything, it's their way of life  ), inevitably crosses the line of decency ending up making a fool of itself and obviously displeasing everyone. It's exactly what Bioware did as well with their shoehorned representation of transexuals, or Beamdog before them.

I don't think there is any SJW agenda going on at all.
It's just that the devs went derp-mode. The algorithm to give enemies a random appearance to not make them look like clones, is probably just fucked up.
