Lol everyone was gushing over the new Wolfenstein and when I played it I got sick of its retarded story and cutscenes (robotic dog thingy?) And I also got sick of having to pick up every little ammo thingy from the ground .... wtf. It got uninstalled after less than 1 hour of play.

The new Doom is a proper shooter.

It does intentionally get pretty over the top though I wouldn't mind a Wolfenstein game more similar to how DOOM(4) rebooted that series either or a modern remake of Wolf3D for that matter.

Will be interesting to see what they can do for this new game, engine update to idTech6 and Vulkan might actually ensure it runs somewhat reliably on AMD GPU's now too perhaps, ha ha. Very Happy

I mean it looks good and all but TNO was so uneven story/atmosphere wise...
But even that is not the worst thing - For me TNO was 6/10 game mostly because terribly weird and uneven diddiculty, sneaky sections, all the shoved in laser cutting section and most importantly HIT'N'SCAN shooting. That usually is not a problem but in this case it made for really weird gameplay.

The "first" wolfenstein would have been a classic game if it arrived in 2005-2006.

They sacrificed gameplay over story. It wasn't a bad decision but I felt a bit "Sad" when they took all of the guns from me, not to mention a proper upgrade system would have done wonders.

Looks like what a TNO sequel should look like: more of the same but with updated visuals and refined but basically the same gameplay.

Which is fine with me. I loved TNO and in a time where the good old "no bullshit" first person shooters are basically extinct I'm looking forward to this.

fantastic? what part?
The prolonged stealth sections with braindead enemies, who slowly walk towards You when they spot You?
The use of stupid pipe through all the game with the same animations 100 times?
Or maybe cutting another hole in yet another air duct with laser cutter?
oh I know - People probably loved dry as fuck hit scan shooting and reverting to checkpoint over and over.
It must have been very accurate bullet sponge enemies then...

I liked characters, graphics, sound, style. Some of it was very weird and mixed but some scenes like the one on the train were great. But if people say this game have great gameplay, then bar is indeed set very low...
Well, I would still take a game like that over most of shit we get anyway Crying or Very sad

edit: hit scan weapons don't have to be a very bad thing. I think Rage also had shooting like that and it's one of the best shooters ever. The way guns handled combined with enemies AI and their hit reactions and animations.

I'm not saying the gameplay was amazing, but you liked the graphics and that was by far the weakest element of the game.
This is from the prologue:

The level of detail is even crazier later on:

The New Order for me was such a pleasant surprise. Granted, we're talking about a consolish and linear shooter sharing many sins from the so called "post-Call-of-Duty" era, with trademark wonky AI moments, unnecessary panthering and occasional excessive cinematic galore, but it managed to make up for that with an actual inspired direction, meaty shooting and solid design in my opinion.
In this day and age where story-based single-player first person shooters are such a rare breed, the Wolfies are more than enough to make me a happy panda Dude Cool

Amen to that! Speaking of which, another good news about this is that they'll be scrapping ye old, grumpy and sluggish idtech 5 and they'll be using idtech 6 instead. No more troubles and ghetto tweaking required Very Happy

I like the more "cinematic" experience with the cutscenes and interactions with your bros.
Also the added humour is welcome.

The game is full of things like that. When a simple cracked window in an AAA title looks like that (picture), you know the tech behind the game is far from great (or even good).

Whole package. I thoroughly enjoyed all action parts of the game, including the stealth sections.

Had no more fun in shooters for years.
