Maybe they're aren't done with alot of the assets yet... everything else would be just dumb. |
Umm, E3 is coming up real soon? Surely they're saving everything, like gameplay, campaign map, and the last faction for it.

They clearly need one of those lights on the active camera. You'd think someone could have at least whispered to her at some point it was the one to her left.

Making videos and video games for public consumption isn't Creative Assembly's strong suit.

Nothing concrete yet. I'd assume something around Nov-Dec. No doubt they will announce it at E3.

Is there a PC conference this year? For sure they'll show actual gameplay and drop the release date there if there is one.

They have started a media blitz prior to E3, staring Lizardmen, with some other systems info thrown in.
Highlights from PC Gamer mag:
Spoiler: |
Deathofjams wrote: | PC Gamer played through a Quest Battle, Lizardmen against High Elves. They had to stop the elves from completing a ritual, either by defeating the Elves or killing two chariot-riding wizards.
The battle map features a narrow bridge which the Lizardmen have to fight across. Judging by the pictures it's the same as the map shown in the recent Lizardmen trailers.
The "Out of Control" feature came in to play a few times, and the player says it added an interesting tactical aspect.
Vampire Count and Human presence in Lustria confirmed!
"Ancient ruins can be explored for treasure, and will draw the attention of other armies"
The campaign map will feature "rogue armies: one-off armies made with no restrictions. Goblins herding dinosaurs!"
High Elves will have a new settlement type called a "Fortress Gate" (presumably the gates between outer and inner Ulthuan).
Meeting certain criteria on the campaign map will unlock faction-specific battleground abilities. If the High Elves properly fortify their Fortress Gates, it allows them to summon Eagles when defending. The lizardmen can "summon velociraptors from space" "like a Star Trek away team". The player in this battle had three charges of this ability on a long cooldown.
Sun Dragon confirmed for High Elves. Appears to be unmounted.
The player shoots down said dragon with lasers mounted on dinosaurs (Solar Engine Bastilodons), which he describes as "an extremely Warhammer moment"
Winning the Vortex campaign will require gathering certain resources. The article implies there will be several ways to collect these (it mentions questing, looting ruins and buildings as three sources)
You'll get a chance to resist being beaten suddenly in the Vortex campaign.
At the end they ask about Skaven: ""We will say that the list of races is yet to be... rat-ified", Roxburgh says, extremely pleased with himself"".
The game engine is the same but is updated with new rendering tech. |

Highlighted info from various places listed below:
Spoiler: |
Quote: | "Races you do not own will show up as adversaries, and with new mercenary armies being added with Warhammer 2, they’ll be able to pull in units from multiple factions.
“They're all found the deep, dark archives of all of the Games Workshop literature,” said Millen. “As an example, there's one that's led by a goblin beast master. His army is filled with beasts. So there's Squigs from the Greenskin army, there's feral bastiladons from the Lizardmen army, and there's Wolf Riders and Boars and all of these different units from other races." |
Quote: | "Each of the races will be playable in the single-player campaign as well as multiplayer. Each race has two Legendary Lords, each with a different starting position in the campaign. You’ll be able to play two-player cooperative campaigns with the same race. The High Elves, for instance, engage in a lot of political infighting. They also try to manipulate the other races to battle each other. They dispatch traders and emissaries to spy on the other civilizations.
Flying over the map, the developers pointed out things like massive fortresses, region-wide storms, sunken ships, a Vampire Count city, ancient ruins, rogue armies full of mercenaries, and mixed-race armies." |
Quote: | "If you're playing as the High Elves, for example, you can go for Prince Tyrion and start your campaign with a city in Ulthuan surrounded by other High Elf factions, or instead select his brother Teclis and find yourself on an entirely different continent. Those two campaigns will inevitably play very differently, as your initial goals, enemies and allies change as a result."
"The High Elves have a couple of tricks up their overly-flamboyant sleeves, particularly when it comes to foreign politics. As a general rule, once they begin trading with another faction, they gain line of sight of everything under its control. This is information that's only usually shared between allies.
They also have a unique currency to think about called influence. This is generated by agents on the campaign map or by solving political dilemmas that crop up from time to time. It can then be spent to alter the relationships between different factions from afar. Are the Dark Elves and the Lizardmen getting a bit too cosy? You can do something about that."
"Those familiar with the fiction of Warhammer Fantasy will have heard about the Geomantic Web, an impressive matrix of natural energy spreading across the New World and beyond. The Lizardmen's temple cities are each built on specific places of power within this web.
Controlling these temple cities in Warhammer 2 provides significant bonuses for the Lizardmen, especially if they connect directly
"If and when you own that capital and you upgrade the building chain for that building," explains Roxburgh. "You strengthen your ties with the other cities. If two built-up cities are linked together, they'll both operate at a higher level."
This is reflected through the use of commandments that are unlocked as more and more cities are linked together. Unlike the commandments offered by other races (small increases to growth, income etc.), these are meant to feel much more impactful." |

Hrm, I wonder if it is Skaven after all. That would make sense - they already have your money for TW2 in order to unlock it, and they have already done all the work creating the faction for TW2 anyway.

The question is whether that race pack is completely separate to the TW2 pre-order bonus. If it is, then I am staying with my guess of offering Skaven for TW1 as the TW2 pre-order bonus. That would make a shitload of people pre-order. Norse? Not so much.

its not separate .... and Skaven sounds weird to be "final bonus race pack" when they are one of the four main races in 2nd game ... this will be something smaller
or maybe the Norsca will be the free Race alongside the paid race pakc which could be something like Estalia

It would also be very unlikely, that they would add an entirely new race to the first game. Like 100% not going to happen.
At best, it will simply be a more fleshed out current race (Norsca, Border Princes or something) But that's "at best".

I wouldn't mind getting Norsca, as long as they are NOT a horde faction. Playing as a horde gets super soring real fast. Tthis is the main problem with Chaos, although their units are great.

So W:TW was basically a finished prototype they sold at full price to finance the rest of the developement, allowing them to deliver the finished product they had in mind at the beginning (W:TW2), while cashing-in on a full priced game + that sweet, sweet DLC (read: actual missing content) money.
THEN DO IT AGAIN.

They always had this planned as a 3 piece series. They never hid this from anyone and TW:W is a great game in its own right.
It's probably one of the best TW games to date (unmodded).

The free race that is getting released should be separate from the pre-order content. The "old friend" was implied to be free content, not something contingent on buying TW:WH 2. On reddit, a CA rep gave the hints leading to speculation of Wulfrik The Wanderer as the Leader of a Norsca faction.
Aquma wrote: | I got over 300 hours of game time out of the 50$ or so I paid for the first game. I don't think I've had this much fun with Total War, or any strategy game for that matter, since... I don't even know. Ages. Of course that's probably partly due to my love of the Old World and all things Warhammer, but still... If that's a scam, then please CA, just scam me again already Thanks to the experience I've had with the first game, I'm definitely gonna pre-order the second one. |
Same, I am at 240 hours, it was well worth the money for me, but then again, I am a sucker for fantasy. I used to love Total War games too, but after Rome 2, I had stopped playing TW games, and didn't even care to pirate them. That said, I hate pre-order bullshit, so it will be a day 1 purchase for me.
