I've tried toinstall the new version of ccleaner 5.30.6065 it installs then it says there is a new version but each time I only have 5.30.6063??

Turns out it keeps installing the older version. I went and downloaded it from filehippo and it is fine now.

It probably doesn't have enough rights to overwrite the files in the program files folder?

You coukd manually uninsrall of course. Then install he newest version. Even better, who the fuck cares about incremental CCleaner updates ? Laughing

There was a bug in 5.30.5063 causing this, 5.30.6065 resolves it. Smile

(Not part of the changelog for some reason though, instead it's identical to .6063 but it's on the forums.)

EDIT: And I'm a bit blind it seems. Very Happy You already tested .5065 and that kept prompting for .5063, strange since it was meant to resolve .5063 constantly prompting for a update.

Why?

Just in case they delete something that could actually be important, CCleaner offers to make backups but it mostly just cleans out harmless entries in the first place though having the option is better than not having it.

The "benefit" of things like cleaning out the Windows registry or defragmenting it is minimal to non-existent though, it takes far more than some few hundred remnant entries for anything to be affected from what I've read up about it though some people go to great lengths keeping the system "clean" of these types of leftover files and such. Very Happy
(Me I mostly just keep to going to great lengths keeping software and drivers up to date. Razz )
