Oh you mean the one that won't fix the lag and won't add 1p servers? Can't wait
It's the second update of an Early Access game that, surprisingly, is on the right track. Good thing to complain.
Ofc I'm gonna complain. So, if you feel like calling me immature for that, I just claim you only use the "early access shit, piss, fuck, cunt, cocksucker, motherfucker, and tits" get out of jail card only, if it's a game you happen to like
Seriously though. I thought it was pretty obvious what I meant with that if someone considers my earlier posts in this very thread. But let me rephrase it.
Personally! It won't touch any of the issues that prevent me from enjoying the game, therefore, I don't care about it. It's quite off-track actually. Personally! Did I mention that this is a personal opinion of mine? No? Oh well, that's actually what it is though.
But when it comes to the netcode. Which is factually one of the, if not the most important issue of all the issues... complaints are not only valid but necessary. But hey, let's boast with our sales on twitter and facebook instead. While we're still too stingy to get better servers. Oh and let's just bullshit everyone with telling them that it's caused by an "engine" issue and ignore or silence the people that collectively state that it wasn't an issue in the Beta... which clearly must've been... dark magic and aliens I guess?
There is alot of shit the devs get that is unwarranted and should be defended for. The netcode/AmazonAWS shit and missing 1p servers aren't two them. Oh and yes, they claimed, PU himself, on several streams on several conventions that they would be there with EarlyAccess. Having them in "custom games" makes this whole joke even more hilarious. And then making the "custom games" exclusive for streamers and such... beyond pathetic.
I'm not just flinging shit for no reason. And I'm not flinging it because I want to feel closer to our ancestors either. I'm flinging it because I still want this game to be good and finally being able to enjoy it again.
But, ofc, it's everyone's prerogative to enjoy the training-wheels and being shit on by the server's dice rolls when it comes to the decisions it makes. But it's also mine not to.
So yes, very good thing to complain. Besides, I filed dozens of reports since the Beta and even managed to get a huge issue patched that most people don't even know about, because they kept it pretty much under the rug, with the help of another chinese community member.
I worked together with some fucking chinese guy... who had to use an online translator to even be able to communicate with me... to get a really fucking huge problem fixed... that problem being everyone in the near vicinity of another player who just had his internet disconnected, starting to lag out everyone because of the voip solution they were using (which is a dedicated Teamspeak esque 2nd server you connect to when joining a game, called Vivox. This info was provided by Hawkinz as we tried to work it out), wouldn't kick you after a disconnect and therefore, still let you talk ingame, which also made your client and server communication go crazy because of the directional/proximity voicechat system... huge lag/rubberbanding ensued and wouldn't stop till the server removed the client's character completely out of the game or the person closes his client. After that, everything went back to normal. This was reproducable easily and was fixed (Vivox kicks clients right away now when a disconnect happens... pretty band-aid'ish but it works).
I don't think the "Early Access" apology card isn't covering the fact that apparently some random german and chinese dude, only being able to communicate due to google translator, doing a better job than their own "payed" QA team.
Here is some proof. This is from the beginnings of the investigation. Which later turned into a private conversation on the forums between the chinese guy, me, the mod from the picture and two of the dev team to figure this out and were informed that we are not allowed to talk about or show anything from in public. ("Ain't that some shady shit" you say? Well, that's how they operate)
Spoiler:
If I was a dick, and you can be sure that I am when someone comes at me with some passive-aggressive crap... I'd just ask what you actively contributed to this game so far that actually made an impact... that isn't just playing and enjoying it?
I know the game's problems, I'm just not rushing into blaming now after less than 2 months of Early Access. I'm quite curious what the new update will bring. I'm guessing the new animations won't come for at least one more month.
People are still playing crap out of this game. Grats to the devs. I thought it'd be like a flavor of the month thing. Some streamers have moved away from it just a bit, already, though.
How much do you know about coding or even more relevant netcoding? It's not such a simple task and I think they are pretty transparent about it. Just look at Ubisoft - Siege or EA DICE - Battlefield 4 and see these were handled.
Thins month's update focused on performance, next month's update will address lag/netcode issues.
How much do you know about being an astronaut? Propably not too much, but enough to not take your helmet off while floating through space. Right?
Stop picking straws please. I never lamented about the lack of transparency... rather the credibility of it.
They are using AWS (Amazon Cloud Computing Service) since the beta in Europe. Those servers are in Frankfurt/Germany. There were no issues in the Beta while the servers had the same playercounts.
I'm sure I elaborated on that already but I'm gladly doing it again.
Fast forward to EA and the opened flood gates to the masses. Resulting in server performance going to shit for the European servers mostly.
People in Frankfurt (again, same fucking city the servers are, for EU) get worse connections to the EU servers than to the ones in North America.
As much as you know to not take your helmet off while floating in space, you most definitely know that something can't be quite right there. Right?
Most people assume they just cheaped out on servers in general. And I personally doubt that. I'm even cutting them some slack with what I think is going on.
I think, since the floodgates are open, the BG instances take a fucking lot of performance from the AWS center in Frankfurt. A huge fucking lot. Mind you that they are not the only ones using it and even a cloud based solution has it's limits. Everything does.
Either they're getting throttled (It's what I bank my money on) or it's literally just too much (which I highly doubt). Amazon would be the ones that have to be responsible for that. At least that would be the most favourable outcome for the team. Because that would mean they are completely innocent and it's obviously not in their interest to bank on shitty performing servers. That is kinda obvious and I don't claim otherwise.
And since a normal user can't do anything about this, it results in frustration. Especially for people that at least think about these kind of things or have some knowledge about them. The absolutely uninformed... casuals... normies... they don't even know and neither do they care (best customers ever!!!)... when shit goes to shit... "must be DDoS" because I heard that once on a stream! (This literally happened on the charity event... server goes to shit, all the plebs yelling "DDoS" even though the server was running like it did for me (and friends) in 8/10 games before we did quit recently. Then they switched all the EU streamers to NA and poooooof! The rubberbanding was gone. And even the team denied that there was DDoS in play, that the issue must be something else. But the plebs kept parroting...
What rustles my jimmies is the claims they make while being so god damn transparent. Like the ones I screenshotted. Then kinda backpedaling a bit again... again, frustrating to me. And if I feel like venting, I'll surely do so. And I don't do it without reason or out of spite.
I still feel this game has huge potential and I'd love to love it again. I want to this to be as good as possible. I do not want to this to crash and burn. But what I don't want even more than that is... these issues being accepted by the general plebians as a standard. That shit makes me depressed... talking about the grander picture here. We already have enough shitty standards... pre-hurrdurrs, DLC craze, peer2peer solutions on PC... and you know it.
Mindless complaining doesn't help. But neither does mindless silence and forced positivity.
And I'm sure as hell not sitting here spouting "u succ, git gud".. I surely wouldn't write down this second wall of text if I would just want to be destructive. In a place where it doesn't even matter to the game. (Luckily, I have/had these discussions where it matters too, so I don't mind wasting some time with this on the good ol' hump).
Pressure about this needs to be kept up. That's exactly why Dice/Ubi ended up moving their ass. You think they would've done anything without people complaining, calling them out? We're talking about EA/UBI here... the latter still didn't give in getting rid of peer2peer for For Honor even though shit is boiling over for months... and ofc they don't. It's a very niche game in the first place and they made most of their money and will make more with sales in the future. The playerbase is so small, they can just let it slide and still make profit. So why should they do anything... exactly. Battlefield is big. Siege got kinda big (at least in the public eye). So they had to act. And both of them are part of the big guys with the wallets to fix these issues.
So, you expect me not to get a little upset about the BG team boasting with their sales everywhere (meaning with their income)? Yes, this will take time. And they shall take their time to look into it. I'm just in a minority that even cares about these issues, I'm aware of that... (even though it's growing, luckily)...
I just hope they either get to the core of it soon'ish or, maybe Amazon Germany is fucking retarded, and look for a different solution for server hosting... put some of that money to good use. That is, if shareholders in the background didn't gobble up most of it already.... who knows. We shall see.
- join game and use the practice period to run as fast as I can
- if I notice any lag spikes (suddenly teleporting forward or backwards) I leave the game
- I join another game and try again
Only one in ten games has a bad server for me - but when I do, the lag is terrible. I mean, unplayable: doors open, then close, then open, then there's suddenly an invisible wall where the door used to be because the client and server can't agree on the status of the door. Picking up items is messed up too and half the time my character teleports all over the place.

Let's get things straight, I'm not saying this isn't an issue, in fact I'm not even playing solo anymore because of the lag problems. I'm also not saying that the servers can't be a part of this problem, in fact I've seen many complaints about AWS. But the game has some obvious netcode issues and it's not improbable for the code to be fucked up even deeper. There's also Unreal Engine 4 isn't which isn't a reliable platform for vast online gaming. Squad suffered (and I think it still does) from rubber banding from engine related problems.
We shall see next month if things get exponentially better or they are just postponing fixing this issue for as long as they can. Bluehole has a pretty small team working on this game and problems like this can take time to fix even with more programmers at work.
As for Siege, the netcode isn't fixed yet and it's in the second year of its life.

That only works if you're relatively near the center of the circle when you land. Otherwise you spend most of the time running and if you got shitty gear, you won't last long in the open.
My tactics go like this:
- pick a spot relatively close to the center of the map, take into account where vehicles spawn
- pick a space with enough buildings but not too many that others players will want to land there, too (the school for example)
- get the best gear you can find and by then the circle will have appeared -> run towards the center of the circle if you're at the edge and make your way across other buildings so you can improve your gear, taking into account cover, hills, etc.
- find a building to take cover in close to the center and wait for the circle to close in while also scouting for players to kill through windows
It works reasonably well - it's still largely based on luck after all. If you can't find a decent gun or scope, you're fucked if the circle is at the other side of the map. Being out in the open, little time to loot means you'll end up with poor gear.
Ive won many times consistently, ive found that the trick that works for me is to start in a high end gear spawn location, doesnt matter how many people go for it, for me the starts are either do or die.
I usually fight a lot at the start, mainly to get First aids and silencers. If i got those, i start moving into the circle then, if not, its hunting people down till i get those, if i make it to the end game with that and smokes and nades (last 3 circles, i kill whats near, i let the others fight) and i win
I personally dont keep near the edge of the circle, i try to stay in half way until the last 3 circles. Killing anything near me. The last circles are all about going along the blue line, bordering it around and clearing it.
That style of going easy in the beginning and camping a lot, usually ends up with a lot of health packs etc, but no silencers or scopes, ending up getting killed due to exposure when shooting. Also i hate playing with friends, its fun, but goooooddd damnitttt they fuck me up so many times.
We have a plan to add a new weapon with each monthly update during Early Access
We are also working on two new maps for the game and have new game modes planned. Our Custom Game feature has proven to be very successful, and we will be including some of the more popular modes created by our partners as default Custom Game modes in the future.
We will only fully monetize the loot box system when the game leaves early access," he says. "We may, however, need to add the system to the game shortly before this happens in order to test it. For us, performance and optimization of the game is our top priority during early access, and while we have players asking us daily when we will add new skins to the game, right now we want to make sure the game is stable and performs well for everyone before we move onto cosmetics.
