Jordan Peele will executive produce the new series “Lovecraft Country,” which has been ordered straight-to-series at HBO, Variety has confirmed.
Based on the book of the same name, the anthology horror series follows 25-year-old Atticus Black, who joins up with his friend Letitia and his Uncle George to embark on a road trip across 1950s Jim Crow America to find his missing father. They must survive and overcome both the racist terrors of white America and the malevolent spirits that could be ripped from a Lovecraft paperback.
Hm, at first I thought this was the anthology series from Legendary that's supposed to based on Lovecraft's actual works, but this sounds cool too. Get Out was pretty damn good.
Get out has alot of references to Key&Peele, at least artistically and I enjoyed it very much.

Haha yup, he looked so promising and then..oh well. Haven't watched The Twilight Zone (I probably never will) but Us was indeed a giant bag of nope. Let's hope Get Out wasn't just a fluke, even though things seem to be heading that way

I'm happy for peel to use his name and launch pro poc shows. I just wish they weren't focused on racism and other malarkey. Cause if a show has 90% of black cast, kinda hard to agree with black actors are oppressed ideology.
Here, alas, is the trap into which the makers of Lovecraft Country have fallen. They appear to have no particular interest in or knowledge of Lovecraft, and have packed the show with all manner of horror tropes ranging from trite to silly.

It's Lovecraft Country not because it has the mythos but because Lovecraft was a racist. They basically say that in the first 20 minutes of episode 1.
