Well damn color me impressed, maybe it's really the right year for the Red men
Unfortunately I couldn't watch it because of the prohibitive hour so I have absolutely no idea about what happened, but seeing more genuine competition in general is good news, even though as always it's too early to tell. There's the tendency to get overexcited around here, underestimating the potential drawbacks and the fact that Ferrari's strategy traditionally tends to fuck things up when you least expect it xD
I think it will be very hard for vettel to win this year, but it's possible...
What made me disappointed was hamilton saying "there's no way I can pass this guy" (the red bull in front of him), even though his car was definitely faster. It's even harder to pass this year than in the last few, it seems victories will be defined by pole positions and strategy in the pitstops...
Was a pretty good race. Quite enjoyed some of the hard fought overtakes. The DRS was not as effective so less to no cheap overtakes and it seems even though these cars run faster in dirty air making it a bit more difficult to follow they seem to have enough grip to run a different line. Which resulted in those great lunges for overtakes.
Hope the next race confirms that all. Think these cars suit the 'Tilke Dromes' better and less so on some of the older tracks. We'll see it's early but I'll be happy if the quality of overtakes stay even if we get fewer of them.
Guess they wanted something to make him happy about, that being said Monaco was probably the only race for him to shine while driving like an animal.
Will be interesting to see who'll drive the Mclaren, probably Alexander Rossi.
In some other news about the Honda, seems the japs have gone shopping for technology (Probably Renault or maybe Merc) so expect some improvement by summer time.
One good thing about this, I'll finally be interested to watch some circle jerking 500 with Alonso in it.
(it's in italiaƱol but I suppose the images may be interesting even if you don't speak the lol, I mean latin languages)
a bit of a classic, ayrton senna said fangio was the best race car driver ever and I fully agree, everyone had balls of steel to drive in that era but he not only did it, but also won 5 times and survived... (and he started as a humble mechanic!).
It's always impressive to see such vintage racing. As if the cars themselves weren't rudimentary enough, the roads were often bumpy as hell, surrounded by 1 meter tall sand banks with people standing right behind them inside the heart of the race, the urban circuits even had regular cars parallel parked on the side of the road, absolutely insane.
Aye, Fangio will always be one if not the best for me tbh. Was already a miracle to survive the races back in those days and what he achieved... poohaa!
"Damn, Formula 1 is getting boring again..."
Baku: "Wait, I got this!"
What a gloriously unpredictable race, where insanity reigned from start to finish, we even witnessed to some solid blending of F1 and Carmageddon. Stroll driver of the day was the icing on top of the cake
Haha indeed, I turned off quali yesterday because the track is so fricking boring... and then it draws up a total shit fest on race day.
Race I laughed the most with, damn was it entertaining due to all the failures going on xD
Alonso's radio message: "We could have won this..." Sums it all up in one sentence
