Well, it might be the same as LotF when it comes to content but other things got vastly improved especially the combat. If the setting was different I would most likely buy it. But this industrial junkyard\complex design? It just doesn't look appealing to me.

So, it seems you keep watching streams for this all day, and keep posting several times a day in this thread.

Why you spend so much time with this game, if you have no real interest?
Seems pretty dumb and a waste of free time. Neutral

// Also you keep posting on the Steam forums even pretty often. Laughing

@Bob Barnsen

1) I don't watch them all day. I watched mostly one streamer, short sessions here and there.

2) Although I don't like the setting and the lack of ranged combat, other aspects of this game are pretty good hence my interest in it.

3) I don't keep posting on the game steam forum often. If you type h0rnyfavn in search you'll get just 6 entries.

Laughing

No idea. So far no game stressed it beyond ~30%. Laughing

I'm interested for the next Beth games though, as they are in cooperationg with AMD Ryzen now.

@Nodrim
I don't really dislike(d) them.
It's just that i always prefered Nvidia in the last few years in the GPU market (better OCing, less heat/power consumption, Shadowplay)
And for CPUs, i think you know that there was no alternative for Intel for the last years till now.

Though every big brand has some bad shit going on, which includes Nvidia and Intel.

Prepare For a Challenge

After first completing The Surge, you’ll open up an option called New Game+. This new mode lets you play through the full game again, with a twist. In New Game+, you’ll face far tougher enemies than your first time playing, starting from the very first area! Although you start with full access to all equipment gained from previous runs, enemies will hit harder and be more heavily armored. New Game+ doesn’t only feature scaled up versions of the same enemy placements seen in the normal game - you’ll also have to watch out for new placements of tougher foes. Not only that, but we’ve hidden some extra secrets that only the keenest-eyed players will spot!

Risk and Reward

With the extra challenge offered by New Game+, you’re going to have a rough time surviving the CREO complex. Fortunately, you do have ways of tanking up and dishing out additional damage. During your first playthrough of The Surge, you’re able to upgrade your equipment to higher tiers, such as Mk. II, Mk. III, etc. You do this by cutting off the relevant equipment directly from your enemies and using the resulting scrap to craft with. New Game+ allows you to upgrade even higher tiers of equipment, raising the cap enforced in the standard game. And it doesn’t end there...

How Many Plusses?

The challenge isn’t over upon completion of your first New Game+ play through - each time you complete the game, you’ll unlock the next tier of New Game+. The New Game+ tiers can theoretically go on forever, with enemies that scale indefinitely. However, new equipment tiers stop being unlocked at New Game+++ (up to Mk. XX), so it’ll be extremely tough (if not impossible) pass a certain point!

This is nice and all (although I'm not a fan of NG++ etc) good, however.... the first boss dropped the same weapon on NG+.. which is kinda disappointing.. I mean..how hard could it be to let ng+ bosses drop different weapons or at least the same weapons but with added unique effects?

Someone should ask them who (them or the publisher) decided not to use Denuvo and why.

Trusted Reviews gives it a 4/5:
Like Lords of the Fallen, The Surge is another rock-solid souls-a-like, losing a little of its predecessor’s strong storytelling and atmosphere, but gaining from the change from fantasy to sci-fi and the ingenious mech smashing and harvesting upgrade system. It’s not quite on the same level as the Dark Souls trilogy, Bloodborne or Nioh, but that’s more down to the lore and art style than the brilliant gameplay. If you like the sound of a gritty dystopian take on Dark Souls, The Surge is an easy game to recommend.

Wait, what!?

Dark Souls in itself is a clone of Demon's Souls. Then you have The Fallen, Nioh and Bloodborne.

But even one would be too many. The formula is so incredibly limited - and I struggle to understand how people can keep playing the same game over and over and over. There's so little variety.

To each his own, though.

There is indeed little variety in a game with 15-30 weapons with different movesets to use against 40-50 types of enemies.
