FXX, home of acclaimed pitch black comedic spy comedy “Archer,” is set to get a high profile new title – a currently untitled animated series based on the Marvel Comics character Deadpool.

“Atlanta” creators/executive producers Donald Glover and Stephen Glover will spearhead the new series as showrunners, executive producers, and writers. Jeph Loeb and Jim Chory are also serving as executive producers.

In a statement, Jeph Loeb says: “How much more fun could this be? Deadpool, Donald and FX – the perfect fit for the Merc with the Mouth! We’re thrilled that our relationship with FX that started with Legion continues with what is sure to be a groundbreaking show in adult animation.”

FXX has ordered a ten-episode first season to debut in 2018.

After the licensing agreement with Sony that allowed Marvel to have the use of Spider-Man in their shared film universe, the only rights that Marvel Studios does not have access to are the X-Men and Fantastic Four set of characters and Deadpool; all are still in production as separate franchises at 20th Century Fox.

Donald Glover is an absolute madman, he's such a polyhedral human bean. Hope the partnership can pull it off, more Deadpool is always good in my book as long as it's not a silly epurated version. Random creations of an insane mind / Screens from Bulgaria [Early Access]
