The overall design is so unappealing. The game is too colorful, especially during battles. All these pewpew multicolored lasers and cartoonish explosions diminish any of the brutality that's left within the game. It really feels like a game for the masses, MOBA elements, huge icons on the screen and all kind of annoyances. There isn't even much content, very few units, buildings or upgrades.
I really don't get some of the design choices here. They did some research and thought turning this into MOBA will be more beneficial for the playerbase? DoW2 is still played daily by thousands of people, in all fairness that's also due to the Last Stand mode but it says something. And speaking of the Last Stand mode, why not incorporate such a popular feature especially since heroes in DoW3 are so overpowered.

Some of the design choices behind this game are absolutely idiotic and it's hard to believe that someone with a knowledge in developing strategy games have come up with this. The heroes are straight up retarded and cancel any strategic or tactical depth being able to wipe entire armies and providing huge advantage in battles even to the most idiotic players. Those shield positions replacing the cover system are terrible, I can't believe someone thought that would make for a good gameplay mechanic.
WTF happened to this game, Relic has nobody from the old team working there? I can't explain otherwise how this could have happened.
I played 2 rounds and called it quits. Like Nodrim said, the fact that a Hero basically can wipe out an entire army, reducing normal units to mere "minions" or cannon fodder, is just a poor choice.
Heroes should there to support and boost your armies yes, but not to make everything else basically useless.
Normal units just die way too easy and are really nothing else than minions in a MOBA game.
So much fail.
Gonna make a new review about it, with my new Shure Microphone And since it has the D, I won't be able to test the singleplayer anytime soon lol. No way am I spending 60$ for this game.
Just did another round 3vs3 (need some footage for a proper review) and OMG ....
there are "ultimates" in this game, that put even the elites to shame.
I'm talking huge ass tornadoes that slowly destroy your units and can follow your units around the map (and is as fast as your units, so no running away either lol).
And each faction has its own sort of ultimate which can destroy entire armies (heroes included!) and there is basically nothing you can do to counter them lol.
And they're on timers only, no resources needed...
Just absolutely killed the last shred of fun I thought I could have with this "rts gone moba" lol.
I guess I don't mind the game. I started to like it a little bit more after each game, overcoming the lack of a proper cover system and the overpowered elite units.
If on the one hand I can deal with the changed gameplay elements, on the other hand I am triggered by the lack of features that you expect a rts game released in 2017 to have such as no concede, no possibility to set custom keybindings, clunky ui using an illegible font, no ranked matchmaking, unforgiving group controls (double tapping a control group key doesn't center the view on the group if you do not tap them very fast or at least faster than what I am used to in Dota 2, sc2 or hots), peer-hosted servers.
I will probably buy this in a couple of weeks / months if Relic readily plans to or adds these subjectively missing features.
