It appears that the next Call of Duty game, that is being developed by Sledgehammer Games, will be called Call of Duty: WWII. From what we know, Sledgehammer will bring Call of Duty back to its roots, and it appears that its first artworks have been leaked online.
It’s worth noting that the source behind this leak is the same one that also leaked Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare a year ago. Not only that, but the title font appears to be similar to what Activision has been using, so this seems like the real deal.
The leaked images show that Call of Duty 2017, developed by Sledgehammer Games, will take place during the World War II era.
The images above show artwork that Activision appears to be creating for promotional images for the title. It also appears that Activision has decided to be straightforward with the naming scheme for the game and call it ‘Call of Duty: WWII’. This would be, probably, the simplest name for a Call of Duty game since before Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.
Back in 2014, Michael Condrey (Studio Head of Sledgehammer Games), stated that he wanted to see another Call of Duty game set in World War II: “I think a next generation game with the latest production values and robustness in a World War II setting like Band of Brothers would be amazing.”
Furthermore in 2015, Activision Publishing CEO, Eric Hirshberg, said in an interview that it’s “certainly possible” that there would be another World War II Call of Duty game: “Those kinds of things happen,” Hirshberg said, “so there’s definitely a chasing of innovation and new ideas within a well-worn genre that lead people to similar conclusions like changing time periods. And of course I think that opens up the opportunity for what is old is new again.”
We do caution that, as of now, Activision has not confirmed any of this art work.

Huh trigger discipline or how it's called (That first image, finger behind the trigger.) could just be clipping though but otherwise it's a nice attention to detail. (It's clipping isn't it?)
(Well duh he's holding the gun with two fingers so of course it's clipping but eh, could have been something. )
(And that crazy eye stare...)

Wouldn't surprise me if it would be a half assed game, knowing IW didn't do that good in it's first trailer. They canned their game and started on something like WW2..Just sayin'
Infinity Ward and Treyarch now have their own split of that engine going by what I've read up on it, it's overhauled pretty significantly although there's probably some bits of IDTech somewhere in there still.
IW basically iterated so IW Next 1.0 to 7.0 with Infinite Warfare and Treyarch just calls it the Black Ops 3 engine as a update to the Black Ops 2 engine from their last game.
(In terms of visual fidelity I liked the Black Ops 3 engine over Infinite Warfare but it ran worse and was less stable even after several patches.)
Not quite on par with say Frostbite though, Battlefront (3) 1 looks pretty spectacular and Battlefield (5) One maintains fairly good visual fidelity too.
That's just in terms of visuals though, Activision has the lead in terms of sales and popularity but well it's Steam vs. Origin so EA does have a bit of a handicap with their client for one thing and post-launch support and content doesn't always hold up either.
(But then there's the console platforms, that's probably where the focus is when it comes to sales.)
EDIT: It took a while but Black Ops 3 also has mod support now, that's one area Dice/EA could improve in too although it's not exactly commonplace for the COD franchise either.
btw those pics pey posted -> it looks they still havent developed a new engine and still using the q3 engine (ofc heavily modified)
I can't believe people are still saying this.
If infinite warfare is anything to go by, the there is no need. It's graphics and performance was great

MW2 was the last optimized CoD game. After that, every single one was bad performance wise. Ok, maybe MW3, but that shit looked so bad it was unreal.
If i need the very top of the line GPU to play some game smoothly at 1080p on at least 60 FPS or over 100-120 in MP, that's not what good optimization looks like.

How about a fresh WW2 game where you play as the Nazis, with all the propaganda included etc.
I know it won't happen, but it would atleast be something different.
