Reminds me of that german freeware survival game whose name I cannot remember right now.
EDIT: "Stranded". Gameplay definately looks similar.

Seemingly there's a bit too much handholding in its current state.

i remember the developer grew a beard and said he was going to continue to do so until the game was released, last time i saw him (1.5 year ago?) the beard was down to his chest, i guess it's down to his feet by now? |
Haha damn, that's hilariously sad. It seems one of the developers recently appeared to defend himself from the accusations of working on other projects and indefinitely delaying this one on purpose:

20 pages of changelogs... at least they do seem to actually work on the game.

We need more "survival" sandbox games, preferably unfinished early access ones too.

I got the early access version a while back, support stopped when some of the team left (Or so was said back then.) and then money ran out, didn't know they had a Kickstarter for this either so probably not very good economical planning or management if they got funding that way too in addition to Steam early access.
But the lead guy behind it kept trying to keep things going even so but stuff slowed down and there hasn't really been all that much happening since last I checked (No new releases either.) though I do remember hearing about the developer trying to finish up some other smaller project or something to get funding for this but that usually doesn't work out too well.
Hardland is still moving forward though I doubt they'll be able to deliver the original envisioned game too, open-world survival game needs some sort of goal or content to work towards not just a big world with a handful of different mobs and some stuff you can craft.

There's one dude working on this, right? I know he might have outsourced some of the art/or something else etc, but essentially; If I'm not mistaken, this is one person making a game.
I never understand why this is a thing. If he has good ideas, why not spend some of the time he worked on it by himself to rally some more people/money to the cause and give the game a chance to be better?
If he can't pitch the idea. If he can't raise money or gather more devs: MAYBE. Just MAYBE the idea isn't very good or very new or anything worth our time at all.
Cook, Serve, Delicious 2 as well... one guy, art outsourced... smh
With the success of the first one, I was sure he'd go bigger this time, but nope staying a solo-project. Sad. Its always the case of 'it looks good - for a solo project', kind of thing.
