You know what. To all who are so skeptical about the game and talk how they want old school arena shooter and how everything is too slow for them or what not; Reflex Arena was recently released which is faster than regular Quake and it's exactly everything those so called hardcore arena players want.
But wait, there is only cca 200 players online. What are all other doing? Just bitch on reddit usually how hardcore they are and how everything is too slow for them.
We all have to accept that true Arena shooters are dead and they just can not succeed in today's market. They can't just release the game with no unlockable content and no character classes and everything else just so the game's main focus is in player's will, skill and dedication to practicing the same thing over and over again. Those days are over and if they release the game as the original Quake was it wont sell. It won't. Reflex Arena is the best possible example right now.
Lucky for the few of us, there will be classic mode without all of that.
But i think that most of the people who whine about the new Quake just have a big e-dick and just like to talk and talk how much of an arena fans they are.
As i said, there is Reflex Arena right now and it's empty (almost), but it's everything what those so called AFPS fans want, but instead of playing it and populating the servers they chose to cry over the new Quake because its "too slow" for them.

I like those big red arrows above enemies, to notice them much better in the fast action.
TBH though, on a server without that hero bullcrap it shouldn't be such a bad game i think.
Also hopefully you can disabled most of those dumb and cheesy voice lines of characters.
What exactly was the difference btw (apart from the graphics of course)? What made Q4 a "bit" less popular than 3 and Live?
No, I'm seriously asking. Haven't played Quakes that much, I'm more of a UT guy
Movement was just... different and didn't feel Quake-ish.
Also, it was too dark. They patched that part later on, but it was too late and still everything felt too dark. What else, jumps were kinda weird, you would hit your head in everything. Performance was bad back then and for MP tittle this didn't do it any favor.
Most of the stuff they fixed or at least they tried to fix it, but it was too late and the game ended up forgotten.
At the same time they wanted to make different feel of the game and keep the old one, but you can't have both, it just didn't work out.
This is from my perspective as i remember it even though i didn't played it much.

How the actual shit is the character design so bad in this. Looks like the kind of stuff you see in bad indie games. Might just be the awful writing and VA though
I find it quite fascinating that when i download something on Steam i can still browse normally and even play with ping of 80, and i always download at full speed. But when i download from any launcher, it's done. It eats all the bandwidth.

actually the third time i launched the game (got an error after beeing in queue for the first time) it took 2 min
made one match, seems overwatchesque. and i really dislike icons above the players. hit feedback isnt great either, hope they fix it (atleast if you get it, a bit more visual feedback would be nice)
