Megaquarium is a simulation game all about designing and managing your very own public aquarium.

Layout and decorate your tanks, pick your fish, hire and manage staff and try to make a profit all at the same time!

From the creator of Big Pharma comes a brand new economic simulation game. Megaquarium follows in the footsteps of classic theme park management tycoon games and adds an aquatic spin!
  • Meet your new tenants
From the cutest of clown fish to the deadliest of sharks. Megaquarium will include a wide range of aquatic life: Fish, Crustaceans, Jellyfish, Live Corals and more!
  • Watch them grow
You’ll have your work cut out to keep their wide-ranging requirements met, but if you do they’ll grow and their stats will increase.
  • Plan your aquarium layout
A doubly-difficult task. You need to arrange your tanks for optimum visitor flow and easy access for your staff.
  • Hire and manage staff
Will you train up an energetic amateur or buy in expertise? Your staff’s skills will grow over time, but beware, your livestock are not the only things with feelings. If staff disapprove of your management methods they might leave!
  • Reap rewards with decorations
Decorate your tanks to create powerful combos, increasing the rate at which they generate income.
  • Advanced interactions
Watch out for interactions between fish. If you’re not careful, you might find your prize fish becomes another’s meal!
  • Breed your own
Explored all of the fish available from the livestock merchant? Now it’s time to start breeding your best specimens to create brand new species!

My current plan is to go straight to full launch next year but with a prolonged period of feature addition/support.

Of course games can't change as much after full release as they can during beta but that's why I'm announcing really early to get as much feedback from you guys as possible during development. Smile

Just bear in mind this is very early gameplay footage. Some models hasn't even been animated yet which is why it looks a bit lame. The graphical fidelity will come up over the course of development.

Bacground Info

Megaquarium has been in development since Spring 2016. The game is inspired by classic theme park management games such as Roller Coaster Tycoon.

The design philosophy for the game is to take all the things that make those sorts of games great –laying out the park, designing the attractions, hiring and managing staff – and adding an almighty twist. What if the attractions were alive?

The possibilities for gameplay depth are endless once you start to consider all the wide-ranging requirements of the various aquatic lifeforms. Some fish like to have an anemone host to hide in. Others will bully or eat any fish smaller than them. Some like to nibble plants while others sift for tasty morsels from the substrate.

I’m hoping this will be a game with truly emergent gameplay, where you’ll only discover the best strategies after becoming familiar with the quirks of the public aquarium industry.

The game’s creator, Tim Wicksteed, will be recording regular development vlogs as he continues to expand the game.
