There were no problems whatsoever with any enemy unless all you do is try to bash the mouse button constantly.

Completely agree.. almost any game can be made into pure shit by playing it wrong... i mean i could probably find bugs in 99% of all games, make a video of it (show the bugs) and say "hey, look, this game sucks ass"..

Ok, there's not enough gameplay bugs to compare rising to G3. But i still stand with my other points of view. Lack of variety and the entire second half broke this game for me.

Risen 2: First informations at the 19th of Febuary, 2011
Quote: | It has now been officially confirmed that the first information about Risen 2 will be released on Febuary 19th. Since the German game magazine "PC Games" will be available to subscribers at that date and there was already speculation about an announced "secred title" in the upcoming issue, it could be concluded that this first information will be in the PC Games magazine. |

Yaaaay!
And no, I don't think they'll dumb down Risen for the consoles.
But they might hire someone that'll PROPERLY port it. I mean, srsly, compared to the PC version Risen on xbox360 was a joke. Much worse graphics, game-breaking bugs and low framerate.

Definitely looking forward to Risen 2, the first one was a true gem (albeit a bit rushed in the second part).

I find the new setting very interesting. It looks like they are consequently developing away from the gothic franchise. It's good for them, because Gothic died with Arcania (well, it died before that), and they need to move on.
Now it all depends on the questlines, the joinable factions, the role-play-mechanics and the interactivity. I hope those will be typical Pyranha Bytes Style.
I have good feeling for this one.
"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."

For people that fear Risen 2 will be derpified:
From one of the worldofrisen questions to the developers:
"Zitat von Kostaz
How important are Metacritic ratings to your perception of your game's success?
I've seen developers stating that their goal is a specific Metascore."
If they're important to you,how do you intent to appeal the reviewers besides increasing the world size, improving the graphics etc? "
And the answers:
1)The user score is more important than the metascore to us.
2)I believe, that if we want to get a higher metascore, our games would have to become much more mainstream.

Well it's not exactly what I was expecting it to be, but as long as it's a non- derpified RPG, I'm game.

Risen had the best melee combat out of any such games, that I have played, it also had a great atmosphere, and graphics, that I liked - simple and to the point - no "awesome things" happening.
Instant buy for me, collector's too, if applicable.

Now that's interesting. I always wanted a proper pc RPG with pirates and things like that, this could actually be it. The first game was to put all the lore together and things like that I think... and to prove that it wasn't their fault that Gothic 3 was like that. Now that they have the basics of the game, the lore they can expand everything and make a masterpiece. They could actually repeat history and make the new "Gothic 2". About the fire weapons, it's not a bad thing at all, in my opinion, the piranhas have some great ideas and if a stupid publisher don't interfere with those ideas they usually make most of them work.

The only bad thing I heard about it unitl now, is that they want to make the quests more linear in the beginning of the game and give ore freedom later.
Also the world will be composed of different islands with each an individual "flora/fauna".
The world will be totally open from the beginning, no invisible barriers like in Arrgghania.
But the islands will be single worlds, meaning that you will have loading times between them. (Just like in G2, where you had three different zones) You will be able to fast-travel between the islands (with boats) and on land.
You will need teachers to learn certain skills. (Like firing cannons)
There will be magic and guns.
etc. there is lots of info on world of risen, even story spoilers. (Mostly german though)
