I don't think it makes sense to have two different Spideys on screen. I think the movie will be Spidey-less, save for spoken references and perhaps small CGI/stuntman cameos in a Spider-Man costume, so that they don't have to cast anyone in the role.
Holland's contracts runs out in 2019 with Homecoming 2 and Avengers 4 (that's a total of 5 films: Cap3, Homecoming 1 & 2, Avengers 3 & 4), so if Sony and Marvel don't renew, Sony can hire him again for their VenomVerse, or hire anyone else to introduce as Spider-Man.
If that happens, because 2019 is super-close, that means potentially only Venom will go Spideyless, and Venom 2 or whatever they make in 2020 can have Holland or someone else as Spidey.
On the other hand if Sony and Marvel renew, then I don't know what they can do for their VenomVerse. It really doesn't make sense to have 2 Spideys!

Pascal just said Venom takes place within the same world as Homecoming, which is, you know, the MCU. But for complex legal reasons I can see them making only vague references and no crossover of characters. Several of MCU's TV shows also barely reference the films, so I can see something like that happening here.
She was asked if there is a chance Holland as Spidey could appear in this film and she said there is.

Villain is Carnage! Holland's contract only covers Spider-Man 2 & 3, but the intention is to get him to sign to appear in the spin-offs or other Marvel films as well. So he might make an appearance in Venom, we'll see.

It'll be as successful as Logan if not more.
Show carnage going wild and brutal and venom trying to stop him. Make it years after MCU and spidey is old peter parker
