As far as i know, Ryzen consists from 2x CCX and its not possible to remove another one completely so that it would be smaller package that has only 4 cores / 8 threads on the die, they need to play with disabled cores on both of the CCX to achieve 4 cores / 8 threads. This doesn´t mean it won´t overclock to same levels tho, but what i have seen on 1800X with 4 cores / 8 threads (4 cores disabled), it overclocks exactly the same. Good thing is that this will be very nicely priced compared to 7700K, if you can live without that 15% extra performance for nearly half less cost.
I may be a bit pessimistic here, but I dont expect much overclocking. The 1400 and 1600 will be good value for the money either way.
People are having moderately good OCing results with the 100€ boards with the 1700 (3.8Ghz mostly).
Combine a 100€ board with a 250€ 6c/12t R5 1600 get it to (possibly) 3.8-4.0Ghz and you're getting alot of bang for the buck.
People are also reporting the stock coolers to be quite good, so if you're not too demanding, you'll even be able to save on cooling.

With LU tax, 363€ with free shipping. I couldnt resist and bought it. Should OC to 4.0 with a little luck.

I know. I just was tempted to have a slightly better OC. Its stupid right. The 1700 would have cost 324 here. This is 40€ more. But I'll reuse my thermalright macho rev.B so no need for the cooler.
I got weak on the price. Remember the 1700 initially cost 360.
@Paxsali: Its all in my head. I prefer 4.0 to 3.9. But I wont return it for 3.9.

I think that with 1700(X) you'll have the right basis for what you're needing and you can always replace the 1050Ti if you need more.
I'm also keeping my 290X atm. As I dont feel I need more GPU power personally.
I wouldnt really need the new CPU either, but I felt like this was the right time to upgrade that 3570K. This really is the first time I upgrade without really needing the upgrade and I'm feeling a little bad about it. But much fun will be had, building and OCing etc.
Now to find a suitable motherboard and Ram. I believe that will be the more difficult task.

Why not the 3200Mhz Corsair kit? Its only 10€ more. Apparently Ryzen scales quite well with faster Ram.
I'll take a look at that Asus Prime.
edit: nevermind, my reading skills are bad today.

It will with bios updates. I will most certainly buy a 3200Mhz kit. The difference seems to be in the 10+% performance league, so the 10€ will be worth investing now.
My edit was about the Asus Prime. The board seems to have some issues according to amazon reviews, but it also seems to have the best price/performance (for OCing) according to a thread on hardwareluxx. edit: Not an easy decision, if you ask me.

They used different Ram speeds. The difference is remarkable.

I was weak, so I splashed the cash and got the Gigabyte Gaming K7 and a 16GB G.Skill 3200Mhz CL14 kit. I also invested in a 250GB Samsung 960 EVO Pcie SSD.
I'm hoping for stable OCs and durability. I heard alot of bad stuff about the ASUS AM4 boards, but I wanted the better Realtek sound and the intel NIC so I decided to invest a bit more than I usually would for a PC and went with Gigabytes high end. I dont like all the bling bling on it but my case doesnt have a window anyway.
I can keep my Fractal R4, they send me a free AM4 bracket for the Thermalright Macho rev.A and my 580W bequiet PSU is still very much enough, as is my 290X (for the time being).
Ah, finally some building, OCing, benching and tweaking again.

edit: Yes, it is probably enough, just like the 1700 would probably have been. I just couldnt be helped.

No no I got the gaming 3 when I bought my 4690K. Saw no point in getting the 5 or 7 series... sure they'd likely help me get a better OC but probably not by that much more (currently at a stable 4.5GHz).
That and neither of the features seemed useful, gaming 3 already had dual bios and AC1150, unlike the competiton's board at the same price or for more 20-30€ (chasus crapzorz )

On AM4, the Gaming 3 has the Realtek NIC and the B350 chipset instead of the better X370 chipset, so the idea was to either take the Gaming 5 or the K7. The difference was 20€, so I took the opportunity to make myself believe I'd just need the possibility to tweak the bclk and be done with it.

What about the fact that some Ryzen CPUs come WITH a cooler and that you have to PURCHASE a cooler with the 7700k which sets you back several dozen €s?
