at least with a 8gig mem stick you can actually use every option of your psp at the same time
with a 1gig stick i have to choose between music, gaming or movies... it's hard to put it all on 1 stick

If 4 is the maximum then why do they make an 8gig stick? or will they come up with some fix to recognise 8gig in the next firmware update?

4Gb is the maximum because of FAT limitations. Aren't Sony gonna have to "modify" the FAT specifications or come up with a different file system if the 8Gb sticks are to be used in PSPs.
They could be aimed at other products which use memory sticks though.
Or maybe you will be able to partition them into two 4Gbs.

The PSP uses FAT16. Which cannot support drives over 4Gb.
If it was FAT32 we could have sticks as big as 2 Tebibytes.

As far as I'm aware, the PSP is limited to 4gig memory on the memory stick bus. As this is a hardware adressing issue, thats unlikely to change!
As for prices of 2 gig sticks, I got my fast sony 2 gig stick for £80 inclusive of next day delivery on E-bay......
