Yeah, are any of the two Homefront games good for a walkthrough?

Not like Call of Duty shit with spawning idiot enemies preferably?

Rename game folder to Homefront_The_Revolution and put in Steam\steamapps\common
Then hit install and it should discover and verify files. Note if you don't have DLC in legit copy you will have to use wrapper to unlock.

It's honestly not that bad, and they did a pretty good job of improving performance, a solid 6.5/10, IMO.

Oh, and playing this really makes me crave an open world Terminator game set in the future.

Though i would more prefer a game set shortly after Judgement Day.

And even better: You can either play the campaign as the human worms, or the masterrace robots.

Thought I give this a try...

I lasted 5 minutes...

A story that is beyond stupid (yeah, so you bought all your tech from North Korea, right....)

and then... a FOV of like... 20... and no way to change it?

And gone you are.

You can change the FOV, but that didnt help this PoS. Decided to give it a try today since im a sucker for resistance type games (loved Freedom Fighters). This game is just a sloppy clichéd mess. I hate that dumb open world formula lazy game devs use nowadays.

If I can't change the FOV in the In-game menu, I rather not bother at all lol.
Not that I wouldn't know how to, but that I just don't want to give these games that much effort Smile

If the whole premise would at least be worth it, but it isn't.

The backlog (garbage) cleaning procedure put me in front of this, I knew it was going to be a stinker but I was too curious and finished the cpydemo in 10 hours or so by focusing only on the main missions. Goddamn. Laughing
With the first Homefront the old Kaos had the crazy idea to go for the scripted Call of Duty 1:1 clone approach, with..the obvious questionable results (better draw a veil over that game), so this new Homefront dropping the formula and going for the open world approach sounded like an alright idea on paper. Problem is, the new studio and Orly himself went for another crazy idea: "what if we do a 1:1 clone of Ubisoft's Far Cry instead, but with even less fun." "Brilliant!"

A consolized recycle bin of deja-vu, requiring no brain activity whatsoever, presenting derivative 'next gen' mechanics, uninspired arcade-y shooting (minus the dynamic cover system, one of the few good things), broken or more like nonexistent stealth, extremely repetitive activities (often mandatory) and last but not least, bipolar AI that is either blind like a bat or gets triggered and respawns en masse in front of you knowing exactly where you are. But fear not, here we have dumpsters and toilets where one can hide inside like in Assassin's Creed 1 instantly disabling the alarm and functioning like a brain eraser. Basically an accurate image of what the game represents.

The biggest offender in my opinion is actually the level design, well the lack thereof to be precise, since despite some few evocative vistas the open world entirely consists into

Everything is uber-simplistic. There's barely any reward for exploration, it's absolutely impossible to run short of resources, districts are only visually different since they have all similar houses and constructions, similar streets, the motorcycle is there just because, there's nothing that makes you say "oh nice, this is interesting". Even the supposedly captivating story I found forgettable, a generic Ramirez help da Revolushionz narrative-based thingy with banalities, basic dialogues and not exactly great premises with North Korea dominating the entire world and controlling other countries' military through magical backdoors.

As for the implementation of the Cryengine here, it's another mixed bag. The performance was decent for me (60fps on High - except the red zone), but when the 10 year old Crysis still provides superior technology, physics and visuals than this game (this applies to Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 as well, another multi-Cry-platform), then it's just sad..dat "progress". The most noticeable oddity is the omnipresent fog almost like in the original Turok for N64, a convenient artificial and damn ugly expedient to preserve the consoles from heating up too much, followed by the rudimentary obsolete assets and the aforementioned simplistic "city". The lighting can provide genuinely atmospheric moments, especially at night and under the rain, but when the gameplay and world are so dull what's even the point, it just feels completely wasted.
The very definition of mediocrity in all its mediocre sad trombonism as far as I'm concerned. Ten years ago we had Crysis and Stalker and now...this, feels bad men.
