Good movie but kinda sad after all these years of movies for the characters to go out like that.

I think it was fitting goodbye. Better than in some crappy, standard comic book movie.

Careful with the wording. If you spoil to me if (both?) Logan and Xavier die I'm going to eat you.
TWIN PEAKS is "something of a miracle."
"...like nothing else on television."
"a phenomenon."
"A tangled tale of sex, violence, power, junk food..."
"Like Nothing On Earth"

Well logan has to choose between saving two lives. One promises the survival of a certain main character and the death of two, while the other promises the survival of two characters and a return to a worthless life and the death of one. But there's a twist. with his last remaining strength a certain person uses his specific abilities to help logan come up with the right choice.
Who knows what'll happen.
I don't. I haven't seen the movie

I've seen it in IMAX, it was a very nice experience. I wouldn't call it amazing or awesome, but the main strength here is the deviation from the tired superhero formula. I'm personally getting sick of this superhero diarrhea, so this was a nice change. Logan was finally the one I always imagined him to be (though older and grumpier), the psycho midget was fun to watch and the overall setting was nice. The movie does have problems though. The story is very simple, you have your cliche evil corporation/guy/scientist, the middle piece was quite slow, action was very good (though sometimes a bit messy) but sparse and the ending was cheesy and left me unsatisfied.
Even with all the shortcomings, it was a great and refreshing watch. I still prefer X2 over this and it's not even in the same ballpark as TDK, but it was good.

was this supposed to be an alternate ending or the actual ending for the series?

Without having seen the movie: neither.

It has zero connection to the movies. No one gets mentioned or makes some kind of cameo. There are actually very few characters in the movie.

That doesn't answer whether it's the end of the series though.
But like I said I don't have to watch it to know it's not an alternate ending for the series (a definitive ending it's definitely not, for obviou$ rea$on$), as the director has said he wants to make a sequel with the little girl.
And in other news it had a massive, for R-rated pic, $85.3M domestic opening. With a pretty small budget for a superhero flick, of $97M, it seems that Fox might have found how to differentiate themselves and stand up successfully against Marvel, after the widespread critical and commercial success of both Deadpool and this movie.

I'd kill for an R rated silver surfer.
Ooooh... Very graphic when he's responsible for the deaths of his people.
Battling his inner demons while galactus fucks with him left right and centre
Don't even show galactus... just have his voice inside surfers head as he destroys planets.
And make it more obscure than doctor strange.

When has Silver Surfer ever been anything near a R rated comic, at least pick a hero like Moon Knight or someone that has been close to that line before.

Quote: | “Logan,” the actor’s sendoff to his signature role, made $152.5 million at the foreign box office in its opening weekend. Combined with its $85.3 million domestic launch, that brings the superhero spinoff’s global gross to a sterling $237.8 million. It marks the third-biggest international opening for Fox, the studio behind the film. |

Stewart reiterates that despite earlier making the decision to retire from the role during that screening with Jackman he is willing to return for Deadpool 2, and now adds FX's Legion to his list of exceptions.

I want to check this out, but I enjoyed only First Class. Would like to know where you rate First Class. Better or worse?

Great movie! I totally enjoyed it! Nice to have those restrictions removed on violence, gore and F words
Not sure about the ending though. Was kinda expecting something better?
Didnt spot no Stan Lee cameo either. Was there one?!
Spoiler: | Anyone else think of The Last of Us, father daughter thing? I got major vibes after they buried Xavier but before she started talking finally. He really remained me of Joel visually.
Also didnt expect Caliban to just blow himself up halfway through!? Did Logan even know/realise he was still alive upto that point? :/ |
May the NFOrce be with you always.

Difficult to compare this one to the other movies, since it's not exactly an X-men movie really. I think you'll enjoy it if you like the character, but if you don't care about him it's nothing more than an average action movie IMO.

How is what? The new trilogy on the whole or just Apocalypse because I cannot decipher what you mean. I assume the whole new trilogy?
Critical consensus is that only Apocalypse, the last film of it, is bad and I happen to agree with the consensus. I really like First Class and Days of Future Past.

There's the "young(er) cast" trilogy and that is:
X-Men: First Class
X-Men: Days of Future Past
X-Men: Apocalypse
starring James McAvoy as Professor X, Michael Fassbender as Magneto and Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique.
X-Men: First Class is a prequel to the original trilogy taking place well before X1, in the 1960s.
X-Men: Days of Future Past is a sequel to both X-Men: First Class and X-Men: Last Stand (X3), as well as being something else, but you better just watch it, especially if you have managed to avoid spoilers all those years. (WOW!). The bulk of its story takes place in the 1970s.
Then X-Men: Apocalypse, taking place in the 1980s, sort of completes this new trilogy while introducing further young versions of characters, such as Jean and Cyclops.
Next X-Men film, currently scheduled to shoot in the summer, takes place in the 1990s and will focus on the new-new cast that Apocalypse introduced (Jean etc). I'm sure they'd like to make a trilogy with that cast too, but we'll see, as they don't seem to have the presence that Stewart/McKellen or McAvoy/Fassbender had.
