I dont give a fuck as what they positioned those CPUs. They effectively compete with Intels 1000€ CPUs, whether you're blind to that or not. And they're also competing with 7700Ks in certain scenarios, ALOT in Applications and in very very few games.
edit: They cover alot more usage scenarios and appear to be alot more future proof with double the cores at a really competitive price.
There is no reason to assume that in the games you mentioned (using only 8 threads) their 4/8 Cpus will lack behind their 8/16 CPUs much, and there is reason to assume they will clock higher aswell, just like there is reason to assume they will be alot cheaper then the intels.
But whatever, we'll see when they're out.
"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."

jesus Janz, unbeliavable, who the fuck cares about turbo? Reviews has shown that 1700 OC´s exactly as much as 1700X and 1800X, in other words exactly the same performance. You still dont get it that these are 8 core / 16 thread CPU´s and cheapest what intel has to offer is 999 euros, how damn hard it is to understand?
Cant wait to see 4 core / 8 thread Ryzen, how it overclocks (should OC more than 8 core / 16 thread ones), for half of the 7700K price.
Also 7700K is 359 eur, like 1700 is, boards are the same price if want to OC? What i am missing here?.

What about choosing a 350€ or even a 500€ cpu instead of a 1000€ one is idiotic?

again: they ARE competitors against the i7 quads with ht in first place. amd placed them as gaming cpus, not budget shit (obviously, in that market they wont stand a change against current i3 and even the pentium kabys). doesnt matter if they have more cores+threads at all. they wont find any way into serverrooms soon, too much powerwasting in idle compared to intels server cpus |

Ooooh nice...199 usd for 1400x. |
That's pretty good actually. It almost makes me reconsider the 1700x and getting one of those instead.

Jesus christ, do you have stock in Intel or something? This is taking fanboyism to a whole new level. Ever since Ryzen has been showing promise and AMD finally having a competitor these Intel fanatics have been coming out with their pitchforks.
Who the fuck cares. If you like Intel, shut the fuck up and go buy their CPU. If you like AMD, shut the fuck up and go buy their CPU. If you work for either of them then buy their fucking cpu at a discount and shut the fuck up.
It's like you're working for their marketing team and trying to convince people that AMD is a bad buy because god forbid your stock price worth drops.

I don't understand how someone can be so mad at AMD. Like even if they are not 100% winners on every test they are better than their last cpus and they seem to be good enough to compete with intel even little bit. If you are pure intel fan in your hearth you should be more than happy that they can still do that, because full out monopoly will be even worse than this pseudo one we have atm. If it drives intel to innovate even little bit or to bring 8 cores to masses too it is only win situation to intel fan. I really don't understand this insane amount of bashing, like AMD literally did something awful to you.
Intel has refined their architecture for 7 years now, the difference between skylake and kaby is laughable, if anything you should be mad at them for almost selling you a rebrand.

I'm not AMD fan at all, I don't fan any corporations, their #1 point is to make money, they are not your friends. I just don't get the amount of bashing. I myself have intel cpu and nvidia gpu, i buy best bang for the buck. My comment was not about defending AMD, but the amount of useless bashing. If the last comment was pointed at me.
I get that there is trolling and all, but in janz case its in retarded levels now.

As a punishment for the uncontrolled amount of madness and unjustified fury (huehue) showcased here, Janz will be now forced to wear the new sig for an indefinite time.

Also something for the "more cores are better in the future"-people:
Yes, you are right about probably.
But what about the cases, when you still keep playing somewhat older, oder very old games even, that only use 2 or even 1 core?
You won't have any fun with a Ryzen in those scenarios. And at least i still play older games from time to time.
Enthoo Evolv ATX TG // Asus Prime x370 // Ryzen 1700 // Gainward GTX 1080 // 16GB DDR4-3200

Is the difference in these older games a game breaking experience, really? Tests with SMT off and Win7 show that Ryzens issues in games are partly due to Win10, so there is reason to believe that it will be fine. Not better than the high clocking Intel ofc, but fine. And obviously the difference betwen Ryzen and Intels will become totally irrelevant once you go 1440p or 4K.
edit: I'm not sure what you qualify as "not fun", Bob, but I dont really see any issue here.

@Bob Barnsen
Older games will play better on a new PC anyway. Even if they don't take advantage of multicore.
Unless people stupidly get rid of their high-end Intel systems because they are "old". Let's be serious, some high end systems built a few years ago are still powerful enough for gaming.

I think most ( at least in my case ) peoples hate towards AMD comes from what they're associating with. Rabid retarded foamin fanboys that listen to no reason, that lie to themselves and others and go nanana eat a dick.
I mean, just visit r/amd from time to time and you'll see the most retarded childish shit there. And guess what? Their moderators are AMD staff ( 2 or 3 of them at least ) that fuel any positive rumor or crap and delete all negative.
If they'd act like this IRL they'd be missing all their teeth by now.

Isn't that chart missing relevant Intel cpus. Where is the 7700k for example?
