im just pissed cause amd wasnt able to deliver in the last almost 10 years (heck its most likely even more than 10 years they didnt stand a chance against intel), and its nothing different this time. and they knew it from the beginning. they can barely catch up with intel and intel hasnt done shit in over 1 year. it will be fun to see what intel pushes out later this year. and more fun will be the tears of all impatient prehurrdurr idiots tomorrow
You are pissed because AMD wasn't able to deliver in the last 10 years? You forgot about all the shady business practices from Intel against AMD? Lets not mention that Intel still didn't pay a single cent of their 2.2 billion dollar fine they had to pay AMD. But yeah, fuck AMD because reasons, right?
Heat output is on par with 8-core / 16 thread intels, needs beefy cooling, something like 4,2-4,3Ghz should be achieved atleast on the 1800X with high end coolers + Asus Crosshair VI hero (ofcourse there is golden chips, that can OC more).
Nice! I'm going to wait a few month for my budget to get a bit better and then go for it aswell.
"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."
a 1800x looses in 99% (partly heavy) against a way cheaper 7700k and against a slower clocked 6900k too. even 10w higher power consumption in idle. if you dont use applications (NOT GAMES) which rely heavily on multicore usage the intel cpus are still the number one choice
for example take one of the only games which really scales very good on multicore stuff -> Battlefield 1: with dx12 even the 7700k gets 30fps more than a 1800x
720p is a good way to get rid of the GPU bottleneck, so that test is legitimate. You can test it at 10.000x10.000 and it would be just a GPU benchmark.
3D Mark CPU tests use a lower resolution and gfx effects too to single out the CPU power.
they use 720p to not run into any gpu limited scenario, the only thing which happens there is a cpu limit (in 99% of the games). AND THEY ARE TESTING THE CPUS AND NOT THE FUCKING TITAN
and 144hz @ 1080p (or maybe 120hz @ 1440p) is more important for gaming than 4k at all. if you are spending so much fucking money to get machine which will handle 4k with steady 60fps (im speaking about a 1080Ti SLI setup) you are even willing pay for intels overpriced extreme models and do not go the "budget" way with ryzen.
right now and in the near future nothing will beat them i7s for the most important gaming scenarios. on the other hand if you are rendering much stuff etc -> the ryzen is a good choice though
Don't even bother to argue with Janz about this, its the same shit as when you could get windows 10 for free with a cracked version. He was bashing AMD already before it got released and couldn't wait till NDA got lifted so he immediately can point out some negative things with reviews.
there is no point to argue cause you have the results which speak for themselfs. just look at other benchmarks (1080p and more). even there ryzen loses against a 7700k though all 16 cores were used 70-80% for example in wd2
Really happy about the results. But it just doesn't make sense to switch to Ryzen just yet (coming from 6700K). For those that are looking for upgrade, but can still hold on for a bit longer, it's probably best to wait for this new platform mature a bit (better firmware) and possibly wait for new stepping and minor enhancement to the Ryzen products lineup, as well as wait for how Intel responds.
I'd be most worried about stability of the new platform rather than the performance/value of these new CPUs -- on bittech they had sometimes troubles with booting even on stock settings.
