Dat beginning
Was difficult to stop, just wanted to see how it ran... better not spent more or I'll burn the spinach (always a lousy idea to check a game out during cooking ).

This game has been tainted by consoles.
Fuck this gaming era!

It might be big, but great and fast they are not.
Nor private when everyone and his dog can get an invite anyway.

I usually use torentday or alpharatio. They are pretty fast and reliable.

Only thing I don't like so far is the ability that let's you read people's thoughts - in every instance it hasn't given me any advantage in conversations, it seems to only act as extra lore.

I found it useful for some quests, though it's not like you can seriously fuck up in most quests.

You get to know more about those you are involved in conversations with and understand your companions. It's pretty cool if you want a playthrough without much fighting.

The game is good , but I get the feeling it does not really have enough fail states. How can you actually fail at quests? Not even death is the end.

Dive at the start of the game -> fail state
Touch the obelisk in first area -> fail state
Yep, there are actual fail states.

Well the guy (or gal) who wrote the introduction scenarios sure had a lot of fun overdoing it.
"Your temples throb with the racing force of your heartbeat, and the reclaimed memories blaze within you, like a bonfire on a mountain peak, visible to every predator for kilometers around".
It reads like Twilight fanfiction. "His raging vampire hard on throbbed like a bonfire visible to every predator around for miles".
Yeaaah ... I hope the rest of the game is less .... "out there" in its writing.

Pick up some books once in a while and you'll notice that kind of writing isn't really out there.

@red_avatar
It's much cheaper than actually making something happen on your screen or show NPC's emotions and such And you can claim that your game is for intellectuals and true RPG fans
1) Lenovo Legion 7 (AMD Ryzen 7 5800H, RTX 3080 16Gb, 32Gb DDR4, SSD 1TB +2TB

Eh, maybe I'm getting too old for this shit, but I'm having a hard time getting engrossed in this game, I just don't have the patience I used to with the miles of text and close to 0 voice acting, the writing isn't stellar either, its fine, the general plot and world is grabbing me so far, the characters seem good, its definitely much more interesting overall then the bland shit that was PoE, but I still can't seem to play it in sessions longer than 2 hours tops before I need a break.

I had that with PoE as well - it's all competently done but it lacks a hook to reel you in. It's like they forgot how to write engaging stories. I mean, Planescape Torment had a very interesting start, Baldur's Gate had a very good start as well and even Wasteland 2 had a good start to name a recent example. But PoE was really slow to get going I found, and even then, the world lacked that certain something to keep me playing. It felt a little too "been there, done that". I hope Torment will be better although the writing so far doesn't give me a lot of hope.

Interesting.. I actually loved POE, still play it and enjoying it.
Tried playing Numenera for about 3 - 4hrs and I just cant ... I hate a lot of technical things including combat mechanics. NPC's dont interest me (apart from the crazy guy by airship).. Oh well, glad I didnt buy it.

People have different tastes, PoE is very boring to me, it has nothing to grab you, it starts up really slow and even then there's very little of interest in the story anyway imo, didn't finish it since I couldn't be bothered as I was not enjoying it.
The worst thing about PoE though was the broken ass combat, the pathing and engagement system were shit and didn't work properly, as for the actual skill set up and leveling it was just a poor version of dnd, it was such a blatant copy as well I honestly don't even get how they managed to copy an old version of dnd and make it worse. The loot was also boring so that didn't help either.
Numenera starts off better, it doesn't have that slow grind of nothing happening and it has a more interesting plot and world imo, at least so far, the world is also filled with more named npcs that expand the lore and not tons of bs backer npcs with garbage stories unrelated to the game.
The combat in numenera is kind of whatever, but you can avoid most of it, its also turn based and that is always better for this type of game then the active turn based system. Also it works properly because being turn based it kind of does away with the pathing and other ai issues.

Me too, so far can only muster hourly sessions.. I reckon i'm 3-4 hours into the game and not cleared the npcs in the first town. Just tons and tons of mildly interesting dialog, i don't think great RPGs are defined by word count.
So far not too much made up words/things, that drove me fucking nuts in POE trying to understand these made up religions and dieties (boring as fuck).
