anyone know, what are the differences from the FX version ? they said that they cannot show somethings in the UK version ... Hardy mentioned this in a recent interview
and same question, does anyone have a list with correct run times of this series : IMBD lists are wrong , when one episode is 47min ,when in reality its 53min ... and so on

there was a interview with one of the producers that said , they cannot show some scenes on BBC ... and that the american audience on FX will love the show
so i think it will be the same thing like with Hanibal and Davinci ... or they are making the same crap like Hanibal did to make people buy the BD ... uncut episodes
dunno , but when i see one episode is 48 min long ...and the same episode but different source is 53 min ... you wonder about the run times of those Eps ...
I had a big grin on my face when he said that, it was so masterfully executed with the build up, tension and psychological warfare like a game of chess. Amazing stuff, dat quality.
Series so far is like chess game: well played from both sides.
Of course a good long chess game is not liked by many viewers, as nice quick checkers game could be, but thing stays: it's well conceived and done.
I don't actually understand who says there's no plot, or that is not really out there: to me plot is quite visible and surely valid on the long run, while we just scratched the surface.
Of course lots of holes can be found:
- if they're following Delaney, how come they didn't spot the mole?
- In general Delaney always seems to be 1 move ahead its competitors, even when unexpected things arise (the death of Winter, for example: foresee the consequences and still be in advantage seems to be a little too tricky, especially on the long run).
Probably in the next season plot will move onto the U.S., carrying some of the characters along, and surely adding others.
Only 1 episode to go to the end of the season, and I'm already looking forward to the next one.
It remains a mess full of pointless characters and scenes
Not trying to fetching water to anyone's mill, just trying to understand.
What are are this pointless characters? Where is the mess?
Care to elaborate?
Well, the entire sister thing has been completely and utterly pointless.
The gunpowder subplot, including the "lost son", has also been almost entirely redundant and useless. Why the hell have they spent half of 3 episodes on stirring some pots? Is that really important enough for that kind of screentime?
The Winter whore and her daughter thing seems to have served only a single trivial event - and I have no idea why the show spent so much time on them.
Even the Father's wife character seems to have no function at all.
The show is FULL of filler crap that really doesn't serve the story or plot much at all.

It seems very clear to me that Delaney carries the 70-80% of the story, in which all the other characters serve to Delaney's purposes, so of course those are actually "of use" only when a specific time comes.
Since plots goes on (up till now, at least) as a move-countermove game, and the pace is actually quite slow, Delaney and the ITC are not bound to fight on a ring, so the plot goes around the characters when they're required for the "fighting".
I didn't see a lot of screentime spent on the stirring (it's what, like less of a half episode), on or the whore (Franka Potente has been seen like 4-5 times at all till now), nor on Winter (like 3-4 times?) and always for a brief time.
The lost son and the wife part of the plot is still going to be defined, so only their personalities have been shown, more than important events around them (the wife was used as a bait from ITC though).
I guess the "filler" issue rises when you expect this serie to be fast or filled with groundbreaking events all the time: that's a wrong assumption to me.
This is not that kind of series.
More than a 9ball pool game it's a snooker one: pawns need to be put in the right place at the right time, and hence it takes time.

No, I don't expect any kind of speed or anything groundbreaking. In fact, I had no expectations going in - and I have no expectations now.
But I have a brain and I have the ability to perceive.
So, I'm responding to what's there based on what's there - and not on what I expect to be there.
To me, characters are only interesting if they seem real and have a real purpose in the story. If they're there exclusively to "serve" another character on rare occasions, then I lose interest.
Delaney himself is not particularly interesting - though the show is obviously trying to make him interesting through all kinds of superficial tricks and his constant "evil glare" and mumblings. Also, his supernatural ability to survive extreme torture or physical attacks is probably supposed to make an impression, but to me it makes zero sense. Is he superhuman or just a really implausible human being?
It doesn't seem to work for me. I need compelling dialogue or actions that make sense to me.
So far, this show is full of farcical caricatures - the worst of which would be the King and the husband of the sister. Stuart Strange is also a comically badly written antagonist.
My only grip is the sister subplot - to mush screen time to end in nothingness (if that´s the case)
I can go with - The main char talking on peoples faces moving around as in a walking simulator - as someone said in better words.
As long as the top brass company and crown men, continue to deliver.
The other tug (young Capone in Boardwalk Empire) would have made a better fit for the main Char me thinks.
What a finale
The longest and most troublesome quest to get a boat, ever, but damn it was worth it . I enjoyed every single moment of it, the unique characters, gritty style and tone, the attention to details and trademark Hardygrunts. It will be a long wait for Season 2, quite the question mark in terms of contents, though it will definitely happen, which is positive at least.
Spoiler:
He really did have a use for him. Jonathan Pryce and explosions, a common destiny
Hopefully the Chemist survived (and definitely seems that he did), he's absolutely one of my favourite characters of the show, and a damn fine actor.
As for the sister, I thought her storyline was fairly weak overall, so a death with no future surprises may very well be ok.

Well, pretty much this. Except I moan when he grunts.
