You mean Portal 3. Wolpaw didn't do much writing on HL.

well tbh ppl shoul deal with the fact that half life 3 wont come out.
Valve has a focus on mp games now since it's more profitable.
Why make an sp game that will dissapoint everyone when you can put out another slightly alter mp game and make muchmore money in the long run.
New single player IP would be nice. I was hoping portal would take the lead, and they would go with it as it was a spin-off from HL but yeah they got lazy with portal too. So, there goes my interest into void....
Gabe Newell teases a new single-player IP in the Half-Life universe
Valve founder and one of the richest people in the world, Gabe Newell, confirmed today via a Reddit AMA that Valve is working on a new game in the Half-Life / Portal universe.
Valve's last release, The Lab, was set in the Portal universe. But it was more of a free tech demo than a proper game. This next project is planned to be a 'fully-fledged' single-player title.
First off, when asked if Valve was working on "any fully-fledged single-player games", Newell replied with a simple "yes". But then things really got interesting.
A user later asked "Any chance of a new IP that takes place in the Half-Life/Portal universe?" and Newell replied with a simple but assured "Yep."
And he also said the plan is one day every developer in Valve to switch to Source 2, leaving Unity behind. From his AMA last month:
Quote:
We are continuing to use Source 2 as our primary game development environment. Aside from moving Dota 2 to the engine recently, we are are using it as the foundation of some unannounced products. We would like to have everyone working on games here at Valve to eventually be using the same engine. We also intend to continue to make the Source 2 engine work available to the broad developer community as we go, and to make it available free of charge.

Maybe they're slacking a bit in the gaming department, but that's the price to pay to become the undiscussed worldwide grand leaders in the skins, hats 'n crates production and management. The mission has just..shifted a little
