|
 |
Quote: | Francis Ford Coppola is excited to announce the game adaptation of Apocalypse Now directed by Montgomery Markland, executive produced by Lawrence Liberty and written by Rob Auten.
The game will be an immersive, psychedelic horror RPG from the creators, designers, directors, writers and producers of Fallout: New Vegas, Pillars of Eternity, The Witcher, Neverwinter Nights 2, Wasteland 2, Torment: Tides of Numenera, Everquest, DC Universe Online, PlanetSide, PlanetSide 2, Star Wars Galaxies and many more classic games.
This team of game development veterans have come together and obtained the approval of Francis Ford Coppola to bring Apocalypse Now to a new generation as a game.
We want your help because the traditional game publisher system won't let this happen.
But you can Make It Happen. |

My #1 film of all time being made into a video game?
Many things could go wrong, but damn, if I wouldn't want it to come true.

There are some short ingame parts in the KS video. Doesn't really look that good TBH.
But let's wait for some real gameplay videos.

No.
"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."

Very bizarre project, to say the least. There's such a hodgepodge of developers and concepts, nothing seems clear...but who knows. There's Sawyer too, at least it will be balanced.
Here's hoping it won't end up being another Rambo: The Game xD

Sawyer couldn't create compelling mechanics if his life depended on it.

Sawyer worked on Tyranny, right? Then I have at least some hope it'll turn out well.

As interesting as the project sounds and may be, you are telling me Francis Ford Coppola doesn't want to pony up 900K to get it made?

They should have gone for a less abstract approach (since the idea itself can already sound a bit suspicious even if the intentions are good), by presenting something relatively tangible at least, a small prototype of some sorts instead of yer blind approach hoping for money to grow from promises alone
Perhaps it could have worked some years ago, but today, after all the Kickstarter experiences(tm), people are 'slightly' more prudent to say the least.

I didn't even know about the 5 million they're asking for on the website. They're nuts.

Someone should have told them the KS hype is long gone and these days you need to bring more than some words and nostalgia.

What is the "in-engine game footage" video on the kickstarter page, then?

hmm the movie (and i do love the movie) is based on the novel 'heart of darkness' which from memory is was set in Africa with the same characters. Reading what that derp on kickstarter is saying to me shows he really has no clue about the source material and is more akin to making battlefield vietnam. I like Coppola changed the setting for that film but unfortunately derps only seem to get "Vietnam war" from the story.
yep no thanks.

Spec Ops: The Line was a pretty good take on the Heart of Darkness plot. If you havent yet, try it.
