Yea so RE8 will have no action at all anymore. It will just be some relaxing walking simulator in the Umbrella Corps offices.

According to comments here that's actually a worse score than RE6, and the same score as Umbrella Corps:

Famitsu hasn't been trustworthy since late 90s, they're throwing about with perfect 10/10/10/10 scores like they're nothing, hell even FF13 got a 10/9/10/10. Rolling Eyes

Oh Bob don't go full retard, it's just first person i know you don't like it, but then Resi 5 and 6 where third person and where totally shit so i don't think a bit of change can hurt the franchise more then those games or the stupid spinoffs or the shitty movies allrdy have.

Going from third to first person is one of the least problems that makes RE7 less of a RE game.

Same here. It will definitely be before 24th. I bought BF1 from Cdkeys and they sent the key the day before release.

Anyone got links to gameplay/walkthroughs video? I've seen a few linked elsewhere but they were quickly taken down.

Obviously I can just wait until the 24th, but I would love to see some now Smile

"Why should we make something that everyone else is making?" - Resident Evil 7 dev
Quote:
Resident Evil 7 producer and director Masachika Kawata is no stranger to the series, having worked on most of the major titles since Resident Evil 3: Nemesis back in 1999. Now at the helm of the highly anticipated seventh entry in the main series, he discusses the ideas and philosophies behind the creation of this new beast, as well as explaining where things may have gone awry in recent years.

When quizzed about the last few entries in the series being very arcade-like, with co-operative modes and over-the-shoulder combat, Kawata acknowledges that the series has attempted to conform in the past. But not anymore apparently, as he explains “why should we make something that everyone else is making, y’know? We’ve got a great chance here with this horror franchise to make it a really focused experience in single player.” He also adds that the style of the game made this an easy decision, explaining that “it doesn’t need all these other things for that experience to succeed – especially because it is traditional horror.”

Kawata also talks about the very claustrophobic feeling of the demo, echoing the franchise’s earlier titles by stating that “you can call it a return to roots, but return makes it sound like we’re just looking backward, but we also want to look forward to the future of the series and take this chance to turn the spotlight on a more focused, more intimate scenario.” Addressing the game’s switch to a first-person camera angle, Kawata explains that “a lot of games these days are focusing on the experience and the believability, on the immersiveness of their world… it just seemed to make sense to us that we wanted to have people feel like they’re actually jumping into the Resident Evil universe.”

He also describes how the creation of a bespoke engine for the game has made this style change possible, commenting that it enables them to “create visuals that look photo-realistic and get [a] good performance.”

I was reading some comments from people with the game, they mentioned a difficulty setting called "Madhouse mode". Apparently it has extra weapons you can unlock, but they warned not to play on that setting your first time because it also scatters items around in places that don't make sense. So it's only meant for replay value.

Yeah that's the unlockable mode for beating the game (That you also get immediately by pre-ordering.) from what you posted it sounds a bit similar to what I guess is Revelations highest difficutly mode swapping around enemy encounters and such for a more diverse (And challenging.) gameplay experience. Smile

EDIT: Some additional details.
http://thisgengaming.com/2017/01/15/resident-evil-7-has-three-difficulty-options-one-brings-back-all-the-classic-features/

Quote:

Casual

Fast Regenerating Health
Checkpoints are frequent
Enemies attacks cause less damage, are slower, and not as intelligent
Unlimited saves

Normal

Checkpoints are less frequent.
Enemy damage increase, faster and more intelligent than casual difficulty.
Regenerating health but not as fast as casual.
Unlimited saves.

Madhouse

No Checkpoints at all
Enemies are much faster, deadlier, and have special attacks exclusive to this mode.
Enemies are much harder to hide away from
Health does not regenerate at all
Can only save if you find cassette tapes which are similar to past Resident Evil games ink ribbons to save at type writers

Eh I guess "Evil Cannibal Mutant Farmer Family Mansion" was probably a bit long winded thus "Resident Evil"

First person isn't new for this series but unless these are Albert Weskers grandparents or something I'm not really seeing any immediate connection to the rest of the series either, green "herbs" for "healing" aside. Razz

I'm sure it'll be a fun game though, depending on how solid the PC port is at least but the demo seemed positive. Smile

Evil corporations, secret research, biological weapons and muscle men punching boulders and with their martial art mastery taking down hordes of zombies for little chess pieces...OK scratch that last bit.
(Escorting whiny girls around? I think you're at least looking for one this time around.)

EDIT: And I guess something is wrong with these Baking family members or whatever their name was, growing little fungal farms or mold farms or just leaving food around until it becomes sentient or whatever that thing in the demo was. Very Happy
(The molded or some such name.)

At least there's no air raid sirens and sudden onset of rust...
