Well, what did you think?

I read the books when I was a wee lil' sprout, and I became quite nostalgic.
It's not LOTR, but it's a good saga, imho.

Amazing movie! It´s better than both Harry Potter and LOTR in my opinion. LOTR were mediocre, overrated crap movies. Narnia has a message and a storyline that you can learn from.

Why couldn't you just've ended your post there?

Quote:

They're some of the world's best movies ever made. From one of the modern masterpieces of literature.

Narnia is more of a saga, a very well made one, and it certainly has similar aspects to LOTR (in fact, the authors were very good friends...).

If you can't find a message and a storyline in LOTR that you can learn from, then you're cognitively disabled.

I thought Narnia was boring. I like fantasy, but not child fantasy, although Harry potter is ok.

The kids annoyed the hell out of me and the christian allegory almost made me puke. Plus the children contributed nothing to the battle, why were they so important?

So you can't find a storyline or a message you can learn from in LOTR? Well, I suppose you are then.

C'mon! There are even the most basic of things in that story you can learn from.

If I viewed the movie in the same way you did, then I'd agree with you. I see this as a saga though... you know, suspend disbelief, and think of it as something you'd like when you were young.

I don't think it's a smash hit either, but it's a good saga, methinks.

Maybe I would have viewed it differently if I had watched/read the originals.

Have you ever worn an armor, or wielded a sword (or even the particular armor/sword he wielded)?

No, you haven't. Well, I have (no, not -their- armor, but a 15:th C armor). They aren't very cumbersome -at all-, in fact, I would say that while wearing the armor I wore, I lost only -very- little mobility. And that was wearing a full length chainmail (made of feather steel) and a metal cuirass + helmet and leg armor. All-in-all I think the armor for me weighed about 20 kilos, and that's one suited for a full grown man. The armor of a child would be proportionate to a childs size.

Also, remember the fact that this is a saga. Who is to say that these armors didn't have magical properties that made them lighter?

After all, Narnia was written for the age group in question (pre-teens and early teens), it's aimed at allowing them to identify with the main characters, much like Harry Potter for instance.

You need to realize, and take this into consideration. And the viewing experience is a bit lighter.
