WTF are they trying to say with that video?! Laughing

I *think* the idea is that they know how they're perceived as being small and unpopular in the PC market, how people believe that almost no one has a Radeon card. So they show the little dude as feeling alone and BEING alone, but now with Vega coming AMD is saying (by showing all the drums ready to be played) "you won't be alone much longer, and we're ready for everyone willing to join us".
But man, their marketing has sucked for so long and it's not getting any better. I remember their video about a "Professional", it was as cringy as this one. I know they want to "hype" people up, but it's cringy as fuck to make these types of videos about hardware.

They would get better results of they just focused on the actual cards. If they made videos about the overhead improvements they made instead, people might be more interested. They spent all of 2016 (and part of 2015) making improvements on their DX11 overhead, and people don't hear about it. Looking at an old thread of someone comparing September drivers to August, there was an increase of 20% in single-thread and 10% in multi-thread draw calls per second. More recently, I saw someone test December drivers compared to November, and get a 20% increase in both single-thread and multi-thread. (Using API overhead test, DX11 results)

If they're gonna be honest and make a video like this one in which they admit no one thinks about them... Might as well be honest and say their overhead sucked. Only difference is we'll be curious to see the change in overhead. We're not curious about a little dude playing his drum. Or they could just copy Nvidia's marketing, since their team is at least competent, unlike AMD's.

As pointed out by several comments already there's a little pun on Nvidia Volta near the start of the video too.

Something like "Warning: Poor Volta" and then some AMD pseudo-propaganda.
(Slapped on top of said voltage sign thus hiding the "ge" in voltage resulting in that particular message.)

Nvidia back a few years ago also poked fun at Intel albeit a bit more directly via some comics that far as I understood Intel wasn't too happy about.
http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/nvidia-intel-cartoons-comics-intelsinsides,news-32208.html

Well it's marketing, it's usually always over the top and exaggerated I suppose. Razz
(The whole "Zen" hype is going a bit crazy too at the moment.)

Problem is, majority of people don't understand anything about this and those who do, don't look at marketing videos for information. Anyone who has any sense in GPU hardware (or any PC hardware for that matter) will be looking at reviews. These videos are made for a different target audience.

I'm just not sure the audience of the video actually exists.
Vague videos like these are usually aimed at casual customers, who know very little and are simply willing to buy a product by giving you an emotional attachment to it. It works when you want to convince people to like the company making a phone, but not if you're trying to make them like the company making the processor of the phone. People who care about the actual hardware components don't judge which product to buy based on a hype video. So if someone knows about AMD and Nvidia, and if they know about Vega in particular, they're not gonna be swayed by this video.
So the audience for this product (desktop GPU, Vega) isn't the target of this type of video.

Had this been a 3D video rendered in real-time on Vega, that would have been cooler and a good teaser.

The videos are made for r/amd. That sub has become disgusting since polaris release. So many idiots, fanatics, shills spouting crap all over. It's even moderated by an AMD marketing guy i think it was + some other shill.

Anyway... slightly excited for vega , hoping it will rock but we'll see in a bit.

so with their current best, they deliver gtx 1060 power.
So with new vega, they might reach gtx 1070 Laughing

but seriously... Competition would be good. not that I am not happy with my 1060 (it is awesome) but I think it was too expensive

as a no-overklocking-person and amd user i am looking Forward to the vega Thing. i don't Need the fastest Thing. i dont have the Money for that anyway.
my opinion to the Video: just funny and the Hype is not too big. i like it. and: no Video, no Information at all( for strange People). the modern Internet selling Needs a Video.
why amd: all by one concern. gfx and cpu. i prefer this.

Nice upgrade! It even has hypermemory.

Be sure to post some benchmark results.

"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."

Of course no actual FPS get shown, instead just the usual blabla. Sad
And of course they chose an already very optimized game for the show.
