3 days ago I registered an obscure domain name. Not something you could easily find or guess.

Ever since then, I have been receiving web design + SEO emails in regards to the registration.

Just now I had a call from India or some fucking place where they're still trying to peddle this crap.

Is this common these days? I haven't registered a new domain since maybe 2011. I assume they can see new domains that have been registered somewhere?

I see my whois data has been updated for this new domain, it has my mobile number, home address, full name etc. Which has never been applied to any new domain I've registered in the past. I assume they took these details from my account (an account I've had with them for ~6 years).

Is there a way to hide it at all, without providing fake details?

Damage is already done so to speak, you should've had the whois shield enabled when you first registered it. You'll just have to endure those friendly business calls for a while. Laughing Crying or Very sad
