1. Doom, for being fantastic fun from start to finish. Great engine, great level design, great weapons, great enemies, everything was top of the top. My only gripe would that Barrons and Cacodemon were too easy to kill.
2. nothing to emphasise how far above the rest Doom was.
3. Oxenfree for being Oxenfree.
4. Deus Ex, despite shitty writing, truly annoying debate minigame, and occasionally boxy level design, the game still plays well. World is well executed, levels are huge, and Golem City has joined the best of the best in single level department.
5. HoI IV. Big countries are a bit easy, and people complain about historical side of things, but I had a blast dominating the world playing second stringers. Interface is the best they have, production is logical, AI is somewhat challenging, and fronts tone down micromanagement. A fun ww2 strategy.
Missed the list for various reasons, but still enjoyable. Shadow Tactics, My Summer Car, X-Com 2, Quantum Break, Shardlight
Disappointments bin: Civ6, braindead AI, and micromanagement hell thanks to sticking with one hex per unit system. Witcher - Blood and Wine, can't explain why, but halfway through I gave up. Dishonoured 2, story, repetitive gameplay. Tyranny, for being an obvious budget project, plus the writing didn't help at all. Stellaris, not as refined gameplay wise as one expects from Paradox, whole endgame feels badly designed, and I doubt any patching will help.
Besides dumping the above in the bin, I've been mostly just burning cash in iRacing, and wasting time on lichess.

ok this was really hectic year for me in real life, so I spent very little time on gaming and mostly on indie titles ... i guess i got burned out and quite annoyed with most of the AAA this year
TOP 5
1. SUPERHOT - Its the most innovative shooter I've played in years
2. Stories: Path of Destinies - An enjoyable little experience from beginning, to end, and end, and end, and end, and end, and end, and end.....
3. Pony Island - A fantastically clever deconstruction of video games made by the devil himself
4. Hyper Light Drifter - one of the best zelda-clones with perfect pixel art and just about right challenge and now in 60fps
5. Dark Souls 3 - Return to form and great sequel to my game of the eternity
Special mentions: (in no particular order)
- ICEY - fun action packed little indie game that isn’t afraid to get weird
- Blacksea Odyssey - small little gem about guy on a boat harpooning monsters
- Brigador -Deceptively deep tactical gameplaymarried to an appealing aesthetic and a great electronic soundtrack. Reminder of Syndicate, the Strike series, old Mechwarrior titles and even Crusader: No remorse, in the best possible way.
- Shadow Warrior 2 - after the disappointment i had with Bethesdoom(i guess i am only one) I really loved it
- Civ 6 - best Civ game in vanilla state ,really interesting changes to the formula
- XCOM2 - great sequel (too bad about performance)
- Darkest Dungeon - frustration maximus , wonderfull KS project , hard as fuck
- Shadow Tactics - Great comeback of my favourite commandos-esque genre
- Dragon's Dogma Dark Arisen - great port of great but flawed japanese openworld RPG , great stuff
- Salt and Sanctuary - 2D souls done right ... amazing work
- Grim Dawn - great spiritual successor to Titan Quest
- Tyranny - its good to be bad
- The Witness - best game about drawing lines
- Carmageddon Max Damage - i dont know , but i just love it even with all its problems , return to the good old Carma
- Slain: Back from Hell - amazing pixel art and after all this patches really nice castlevani-esque game , had to award the comeback from such horrible mess of a launch

Most disappointing game is not No Men's Sky? How? It will go down as the biggest disaster since Daikatana.

1. Battlefield 1
2. Inside
3. The Division
4. Titanfall 2
5. Watch Dogs 2
Basically those are the games I played this year, also played Mafia 3 but I consider it the least game so far.. Still have to play: Deux Ex:MD, Doom, Dishonored 2, Dark Souls 3, XCOM2 (first one too), Darkest Dungeon, Far Cry Primal, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Hitman(Maybe? and prolly some leftovers.. And since it's only PC games I can't name a few console name that pops up, but whatever.
CoD:IW was okay nothing special.
