I have multiple ways to game |
Omg, how radical! So is mine! Woohaa if only we were living in the future where we had some kind of technology that would make multiple displays or streaming a thing!
Just admit it was a silly argument, that being said: good you are having fun on your TV with your consoles. So do I at times.
The way everything is set up these days (gaming wise in my house) I really don't see what the consoles could offer me other than contracted exclusives (which I hate with a passion, no matter the platform) and them creating controllers I can use on my PC. For others there is ease of use to some extent I guess.
I really do wonder if they can squeeze out another gen or if this will be the last. I would like to give an exception to Nintendo though. Even when their attempts 'fail' it's different enough for me to not feel like they are just weaker PC's.

Doubt it's the last gen.
Doubt Sony would port/develop their games for PC either.
They have huge licenses, that would be suicide to have god of war, uncharted, crash bandicoot, the last of us, little big planet, quantic dreams games, until dawn etc on PC... and I'm missing a few more.
They sell systems for these so it's extra money they wouldn't have if they were not exclusives.

Ease of use went missing with the 360/PS3.

I don't get the whole massive tv argument, sure I can do it but I much prefer my 27" with keyboard and mouse. I have a 4K HDR tv and it looks shit compared to my monitor. I also hate playing with a controller over m/KB.
Size of screen is all relevant, I sit a few cm away from a monitor or a few metres away from a bigger tv, the perspective is all the same.
To me consoles existed to have local multiplayer, since most games no longer support that, they are pretty much a waste of time, and just an FYI, I own them all but rarely play anything other than PC. I keep buying them for some reason, perhaps thinking something will finally justify it. There are some occasional decent games but probably not worth the investment I spent.

Ease of use went missing with the 360/PS3. | Not really, tbh. Playing on the PS4 is as simple as it can get. You just insert the disc or download the game and play, the console does everything else for you (installing games, downloading and installing patches, firmware updates and so on). It's completely idiotproof. Then again, I suppose one might argue so is Steam, but on the PC you still have to do some basic PC maintenance like changing drivers, defragmenting (on older hdd's) or dealing with a rare compatibility issue. Stuff like that doesn't exist on the consoles, so for people who just want to "plug and play" they still hold some advantage.
