At the inclusion of expansions... Some radically change a game so why not? It's not like we're handing out prizes so we don't really need to use categories like best game or best expansion.

And honestly, most of these games probably wouldn't make the list in most years, but these are pretty much all games I've played this list, others like tyranny and telltale batman I either didn't finish and/or just disliked.

Early access doesn't count though. If it came to steam as early access in december 2015, but was fully released in august 2016, then it's a 2016 game. Well, that is certainly my opinion.
