Created and writted by Brit Marling and Zal Batmanglij (yes, his last name includes the word Batman!). Marling also stars, while Batmanglij directs.
Description:
Quote:
From Brit Marling and Zal Batmanglij, the visionary filmmakers behind Sound of My Voice and The East, comes a powerful, mind-bending tale about identity, human connection and the borders between life and death. The Netflix original series The OA is an odyssey in eight chapters produced in partnership with Plan B Entertainment, Netflix and Anonymous Content. The groundbreaking series offers audiences a singular experience that upends notions about what long-format stories can be.
Sounds like an 8h movie.
Trailer:
Looks low budget, but also artistic.
I only know Marling from Another Earth, well, actually I didn't know her name or anything before today, just remembered her face while watching the trailer. And this trailer somehow reminds me of that (very awesome) movie in terms of tone. And what do you know, she had also co-written that movie? I didn't know that either.
Marling and Batmanglij have worked as a co-writer/star and co-writer/director (respectively) pair on Sound of My Voice and The East but I haven't watched either. I see 70something % on RT for both, so I imagine they are good/interesting.
Anyway, I'll be definitely checking this third collaboration of theirs, if not on release, later, unless it gets very bad reviews.

I'm not familiar with this Batman fellow (I shall definitely download Another Earth one of these days ), but the concept here sounds quite intriguing on paper. Will keep it on my radar as well unless it turns into something silly.
Scroll down.. Great concept, mysterious and intriguing.

Divided into chapters of differing lengths, the show plays with format and structure with an excitement that’s contagious. There are also moments that require the viewer to take a big leap, and it’s easy to imagine that some won’t be won over by where The OA is going. It’s reminiscent of 2015’s Sense8 in its absolute confidence in its storytelling and its message, and in the way that the people who love it will really, really love it. Others will not, but we certainly did (just in case that star rating’s not a dead giveaway).
And a negative review that praises Netflix for making something very passionate like this instead of dull by the numbers crap, but the reviewer warns that it doesn't work for him and he doesn't recommend it: http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/review/oa-review-956799

For me, it doesn't and I can't recommend the show at all, even knowing that there's a niche that will embrace it, but I enthusiastically recommend Netflix keep trying this kind of thing, especially if its resources truly are as boundless as they often seem to be. The successes should outnumber the failures.

"That’s the true allure of weird TV. When it’s this good, it takes hold of you and pulls you under. You may not be sure of what you just watched, but it sticks in your head for quite some time."

You won't get anything else. There are no official web-dls or anything.Webrip doesn't automatically mean shit quality. It depends on how they captured it and at what resolution.
4K netflix & amazon releases are also webrips.
Ye but so far, those web are SD, i would take webdl at 720 at the most, i can easily tell from 720p to 1080p, i refuse to see stuff in SD, has nothing to do with webdl, that is suposed to be the file that itunes has etc
Okay, first 2 episodes are pretty good, with low doses of amateurish scripting and visuals, indie-filmmaking-style, but nothing I can't stomach. What I really really wasn't expecting is that it feels almost like a fairy tale(?!).

edit: Now that I listed complete releases of 480p, 720p and 1080p I will no longer update it with newer ones.

Now can somebody explain to me what's going on near the end of ep5:
Spoiler:
Did the gas really malfunction? And did Hap know this happened and Scott didn't fall asleep / in an easily commanded state? And if he did why did he still go on with the experiment instead of trying to fix the gas? I thought he considered the gas really important for his experiment??

What you are saying makes sense, although I don't think it was communicated very well to the viewers then (IMO).
Another thing from the end (IIRC) of ep2:
Spoiler:
When Hap leads Praire to the lab to her "bed", why do the others not scream "RUN! IT'S A TRAP!!!", but instead only talk to her only after he locks her in?

And finished. Very impressive, although the ending will disappoint some people. Very little is explained, even "The OA" itself we don't get a real explanation about what it means (although we do get 2 mini ones about it, but they were more like references to it, rather than explanations). But hey, it's better than Sound of My Voice's ending, so that's.. something. We need season 2 to find out what happens next and knowing Netflix, we'll likely get it, while I don't think we'll ever get Sound of My Voice 2.
I liked it better than Stranger Things (I'm sure this will be an unpopular opinion, hell I expect some people to downright hate this).
